Historical Accuracy
I used three main books as references, as well as Wikipedia for looking up quick facts:
- Alexandria in late antiquity : topography and social conflict by Christopher Haas (1997)
- The Architecture Of Alexandria And Egypt, C. 300 B.C. To A.D. 700 by Judith McKenzie (2011)
- A Dictionary of Greek and Roman Antiquities by William Smith (1849)

I used images from the latter book as references for 3D models as well as adapting some of them for UI elements (since they are public domain).

Thematic Relevance
This game takes place the day after Hypatia is assassinated. You play as one of her last students, and decide which of her scholarly works you will try to save before her house is razed.

Disclaimers
* I used a CC0 rigged character model as a base for the player character, but made heavy modifications. I created all the other 3D assets from scratch in Blender.
* 2D artwork in the panels is adapted from the book A Dictionary of Greek and Roman Antiquities.
* UI icons are from Game-Icons.net (CC-BY)
* The 2 fonts are public domain.
* The music is based on an ancient Greek mourning song. I created multiple arrangements of the original midi on Wikipedia for this game.
* The UI sounds are CC0 assets from OGA and Kenney
* I created this project from scratch in Godot 4.2.2. However, I did copy and paste some small generic scripts from prior projects. I also used three free plugins (Godot Sound Manager, Phantom Camera and InkGD).

Please see the game page for a full list of credits and links! Thanks for playing!

Very smooth-looking graphics, I enjoy the visual storytelling it has laced throughout the environment. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to play it too much, since I was feeling a little dizzy from the pivoting/rotating camera POV you chose for the game. Thanks for making and sharing it though!

I really enjoy games with fixed camera angles like the original Resident Evil, so this game was very good for me. The setting was a great choice and i learned a lot.

Lots I liked about this game! The somberness of the writing/narration with a touch of hope. The overall aesthetic of the game and also it's nice to see the odd female protagonist.
Made me want to read up on Hypatia! :)

Very nice game! I especially like the minimalistic 3d style, reminds me of the old Runescape but with better color grading. I did have some issues with the camera though. I know 3rd person view is always a pain to work with. It was hard to tell which objects I was actually interacting with, although I get that in a point-and-click like this the point is that you have to find things. Some sfx were a bit too loud as well. But other than that, no complaints! I love games about more obscure topics like this especially :)

Perfect score!! And thanks so much for the feedback! I totally hear you on all those points. Agreed that the question of highlighting objects is always a tricky, but I personally prefer some kind of hint also. The timeframe of the jam ended up deciding the matter for me the other way this time, but I think some kind of sparkle fx or glow could’ve worked here.

I'M IN LOVE WITH THE GAME !

I love the minimalist artstyle, i love the camera placements & the way we can move arround the map, i love the small story & the objectives !

The game run perfectly on any browsers or computer (playing on my old laptop)

big GG to the devs :) !

Thanks so much – really appreciate the feedback! It’s reassuring to hear there weren’t performance problems!

Impressive point-and-click game! It was easy to collect all the items. I did not see any guards. Overall the game works well and the camera is following the player in a consistent way, which might be hard to code. The music and sound were well chosen and created a calm atmosphere. However, there was no suspense and the connection to the theme is vague, in my opinion.

Anyway, great job!

Really appreciate the detailed feedback! I agree about the lack of suspense – one idea was to have the guards inside the house and add some low-risk stealth mechanics, but there wasn’t time to add it. It does seem I didn’t communicate well enough that this game was about the immediate fallout of Hypatia’s assassination.
