This is a cute story-driven game. I was smiling the whole time I played it. I've always wanted to do something with the default characters and their SF counterparts, and this is a really clever way to do it! I also loved the callbacks to the 5adj and other Driftwood references. Extra points for shoutouts to my entries. 🤩 Well done!
Sheesh, this was excellent. Nothin' but net here.
After the first battle I was like whaaaaaa? Hah!
The mobile was cool, the club was cool, the music was perfect, the end was nice.
Really enjoyed this one, thanks for making it!
Amazing story. I loved it and had to go back to play through all the character's scenes. Cameos and references were really fun too. You really know your audience!
Eventing, pacing storytelling, all on point. A few of the transitions could be polished, like having animations cover characters that disappear, or making after battle transitions to other maps a bit smoother.
A few grammar fixes could help too, but nothing detracted from the overall experience. You captured the spirit of Harold!
Harold: I liked how Harold was a fantasy hero in the real world I liked Harold's interactions with the other characters. Reverse Isekai are very rare.
Fun: The character were brimming with personality and the actors stark contract to their characters was quite entertaining to watch.
Creative: There weren't many plugins but the ones you did you helped enhance your game's overall experience.
Overall, I liked the game and enjoyed the characters. However, the maps were to spacious with nothing in them and have the edge of the map visible was jarring.
Harold will live on on in our hearts *tear*. Loved the story!
Full Disclosure: I have an entry in the Jam.
Spirit and essence of Harold: Harold is front and center
Fun: Interesting story but without many opportunities for player choice and frequent narrator control over Harold, it felt like a bit like a visual novel.
Creativity: Numerous good ideas executed in this game. Lots of custom art and music. Great use of plugins.
General Comments: I played the Game Jam version which may explain why the conclusion of the story was abrupt. Many of the large maps felt empty. Without a border, it was never clear where there were exits to another map and where there were dead ends.
FYI, you can significantly reduce the size of the .zip file by selecting 'Exclude unused files' during deployment. This will ensure only files used within the game are copied into the deployment folder (Most of the file size comes from the very full BGM folder)
I never use "exclude unused files" because it actually removes files that can be used in the game. It leads to a bug where the game tries to load a file that was removed.
I could playtest the game to find which removed files are used and replace them. But the game size isnt that big its not worth it.
Oh man, your game was awesome!!! The plot is the same as a Twilight Zone, which made it even cooler!! Really a lot of fun, and an amazing amount of work for a week.
Thanks for the first comment every comment on my game makes my day better ^-^
By the way I've never watched Twilight Zone but I guess I'm gonna give it a shot
I forget the name of the episode, but the character's name is Arthur Curtis. You have to watch the old black and white ones, the new ones are not good.
