I'm so happy you made deadline!!! And that punchline in a game was 100% worth it. I had to play again to watch the leap. You got top Harold points in my book!

Developer(+1)

The funny thing is that the punchline happened completely by accident. Because of how small the sprite is, the "jump" needed a lot fewer commands than I initially thought it did, so when I playtested it to make sure he landed on the "ground" he sailed straight past it. And when it became clear I didn't have enough time left to make the actual game I'd planned, the joke was right in front of me. :D

More of a cutscene than a game, but a cleverly engineered one!

Adding an extra star to my 'Harold' category rating on account of your entry meeting this criteria so well:

"Is it short enough for Harold's attention span?"

😎

Developer(+1)

Yeah, unfortunately 5 hours turned out to only be enough time to do a cleverly-engineered cutscene. Stay tuned for the actual game soon though!

Excellent! I was worried that it wasn't a work of fiction, and that you were actually planning to give up.

Developer

XD not at all. I've been in the community for 20 years, and I ain't planning on going anywhere any time soon. <3

Haha, brilliant! It was pretty creative with the use of show pictures, and funny too.

Developer

One of the reasons I only had time to do what I did was that the sequence is more complex than it appears: it starts as pictures so that I can control the zoom, but then they're replaced with a parallax layer so that the Harold character graphic can be shown above. It took a while to get the positioning and transition just right. Glad you liked it!

I like it, despite it being pretty short! I really like the Harold sprite immediately falling off.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! In the director's cut version, he'll land safely and climb up the games list, at which point you can choose which RPG Maker to launch to rescue one of the protagonists.

It did make me laugh at the end.

I got a chuckle out of this!  Not bad for 5 hours. I can feel the time crunch PANIC and resignation in this project.

I'd legit originally planned to do a proper crossover adventure with all the previous RM protagonists (even had them all resized for MZ ready to go) but then it got to 20 minutes left and I realised I had nowhere near enough time to even start implementing it, so I went for my usual event game fallback: humour. :D

I'd like to see the other game made. Sounds fun.
We can jam out side of jams we just can't feed the jam monster the non jam jams.
Right?

Developer(+1)

Don't worry, I'll be releasing a director's cut of this one as well as my Touch the Stars entry. :)

YAY!
Be sure to notify me when you do, please!
