How does your game fit the theme?
There's a rift that comes from an alternate world that keeps dropping very aggresive squares... Most importantly, that rift has a peculiar property, which is that it runs on a timer that resets on each round.

You can survive until the round ends... but killing enemies makes the round longer. And NOT killing won't give you money, so that way you'll die too because you'll become too weak. The key of the game is balancing the killing, and the waiting-out-the-timer-while-dodging aspects.

Good game and i love the feel and mechanics of the game. If you have changed the enemy to something like player(not square) then it would have created more game feel. Overall i liked itπŸ‘.

Simple enemies but fun gameplay concept πŸ˜Š!

GAMEPLAY 
Nice shooter. Simple controls that work well. Good variety of enemies with different skills. The sniper as already said is a bit overpowered as is the dash ability. The upgrades are fun and useful. And liked that I could play some more levels after win using the easter egg πŸ˜‰! Had a lot of fun playing

GRAPHICS/ART 
Nice main character. Simple enemies, but the particle effects and different abilities made up for that. It were real enemies to me! Maybe some obstacles could be fun in an update or more detailed enemies.

AUDIO   
Good SFX for the actions. A 8-bit kind of retro background audio track would have been a nice addition.

THEME  
The time is power was well done. The alternate reality is touched lightly but also check.

Overall a well worked out fun shooter gameπŸ’ͺ!

Thanks for the feedback! Just want to be clear that the main character was not drawn by me, but a free asset that I downloaded, same with most of the SFX. You can find those details in the description of the game's page. For next jams I would recommend that you put submission questions about what parts of the game where made in the jam. (like how GMTK game jam does it) That way, the winners of each category can be determined while only including ones that actually deserve it. 😁

Really fun game, I loved the dynamic of killing enemies and the timer. This is the first time I've needed to NOT kill enemies in order to progress, it was quite intriguing. It just needs some balancing, which I know is very hard to do in jams.

I finally finished the devlog! I will be off on a trip for a couple of days, so I didn't have much time to do it, but I still think you might find it intresting: Lessons learned on making Rift O'Clock


Update: Sooo... the trip was cancelled. 😐

Welp, at least now I had time to improve the devlog. I fixed some grammar errors, added GIFs, and revamped the explanation on how the Snipers' timing calculations work. 

For those that have already read the devlog, you might want to check it out again to see the changes. For those who didn't, well, just go read it I guess lol.

Game mechanics were cool. As many others said the snipers were super powerful. I would be at full health and then two would show up and before I could take both out I'd be dead. I never did get to use the space ability and played it about 5+ times. I also had a time when the mouse would exit the game and start clicking stuff around my desktop which was strange. One other time the w button wouldn't move me up so I was stuck at the bottom of the map. I died pretty quickly after that and when I restarted it didn't happen again, so not sure about what happened. Anyway, good job!

The game is nice, but badly balanced. The sniper is way too strong, and the dash ability is way too overpowered.

By the way, it's okay with me, (I think I have a pretty tough skin) but I would reccomend you make your feedback a bit less negative! I think other developers will really appreciate that.
Personally I would've worded your comment more like: "The game is nice, but has some balance issues. The sniper is too strong, and the dash ability is overpowered." And maybe add some suggestions to fix those issues, but most importantly I think you should end on a possitive note, I believe that way the developers will take your critiques more into account. Cheers!

Fun game!! Buying the abilities and upgrading your gun felt very useful! The game was kind of hard and I think you could improve two things:

- Make the spawning ennemies particles match the color of the ennemy (like pink ones for the pink ennemy)

- Make each ennemy have it's own color, because the sniper and the basic cube can look very similar if you don't pay attention

The game is quite good, I loved the menu. The gameplay though I felt the movement was quite stiff and the snipers overpowered until you get the dash. But overall great game!

the game was pretty nice, but when you realize you dont have to shoot the enemies, especially with the dash ability, it becomes a little boring. the player controls were great though!
