Really cool idea executed well. Fun gameplay, good pixel art and colorful music.
Game is missing red color. The time limit is too small for my taste. The brushes are at an angle to the drawing board but draw vertically and its somewhat confusing.
I recommend changing the brushes to vertical sprites instead of diagonal when drawing.
I also recommend a free style mode with no time limit.

it made me paint an apple, BUT THERE WAS NO RED D:

Awesome idea and awesome execution. As someone who studied computer vision & graphics, I would love to know how you compare the images. Is it a simple pixel to pixel comparison or did you use something more advanced?

Overall, a great concept with great cohesion, everything fits well together! The time restriction is exactly what this type of game needed to make it fun and engaging.

Developer

Hello! Firstly the pixels you paint on are individually instanced and i create a 2d array of their modulation to create an “image array” of their colors. I then compare this to a directly hard inputted set of data for the current image (which is usually like 80,000+ characters. Not the best but it works.

TOO MANY PIXELS TO DRAW NOT ENOUGH TIME AHHHSfklhsdklf, very fun tho! :D

I spent way too long on the Godot Logo... XD

Fun game~! I have never felt so stressed trying to replicate art, the time mechanic really gives the painting that "game" feel. With that in mind, I kind of wish because of that time mechanic, we had more painting tools at our disposal. At one point, when I was using the roller, I kind of wished I had something more extreme to get paint on my canvas (i.e., like a paint bucket splattering globs of paint everywhere).

Even with that small critique in mind, I really enjoyed your submission! Good stuff!

Developer(+1)

I was thinking of making a paint bucket, but the only way i could really implement it would be to basically clear the whole canvas to one color, so i skipped it. Glad you liked it tho!

I love how peaceful this game feels. I also generally love the concept. I never even concidered the "forgery" angle of the forge theme and I really love what you came up with on that side. It took me a bit to figure out how the "submit" feature worked (I initially thought I only got to do the one painting in a day) and when I did figure that out, my approach to the game changed completely. It was really fun to see how quickly I could approximate the picture and then move onto the next one. I think my high score was $4500 in a day?

Really well done! I enjoyed this one.

Developer

Thank you for the comment! Glad you loved the game! A 4500 high score wow! My high score was like 2000.

this is just evil. i love it

Thank you! Your game was awesome too!

Developer

Thanks, man! Love the "juiciness" of your game. I love the feeling of smacking the little rocks and collecting the ore. We'd love any feedback you have for us :)

i think instead of just drawing pixels on the screen, it could use a line2d that appends the mouse position to the points instead so it draws inbetween each mouse position, i definitely found that made it alot harder (might be harder to set up though; i don't know how you set up the score and all that, so maybe that wouldnt be doable)
honestly beyond that the game has such a nice charm to it, enjoyed it alot

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the drawing mechanic could be optimized and improved tons of different ways, i just went with I could get working quickly. Glad you enjoyed it!

What a cozy little game, great work! Would love if there was a bit more time per round as it often felt like I had to rush, but maybe I was just being a bit too perfectionist

Developer(+1)

Thanks man! I don't know about Zaps, but my goal was to give people an aneurysm as they realize the game isn't as chill as they thought. Also, it represents the corners you have to cut for a jam :) also loved your game; the animations felt really nice and reactive especially

Developer

That was my exact goal.

Really fantastic work. I'm woefully slow, but I really enjoyed the scenery and the execution on the idea. Great stuff all around.

Developer

Thank you! We tried to keep it too fast to not allow for perfection as to not promote direct copying to much (totally not our actual intention). I loved seeing the progress on your game in the discord and I love the anvil throw, upgrade, and upgrade mechanic in your game!

The game creates a really cozy atmosphere :3 Very cute pixel art style

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Loved seeing the progress on discord of your game, and it certainly didn't disappoint!!! Loved the factorio vibe!!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you liked it!

Developer

Thank you!!! The cut scenes and sound design in your game go so unbelievably hard. I love the idea too, I loved drawing the weapons (terribly and ridiculously)! :))

Had a lot of fun playing the game!.  Nice and beautiful short experience.   Of course that my best drawing was the godot icon.

Well done.

Developer

Thank you! Glad you liked the godot icon!

Developer

YOUR GAME SHOULD BE A REAL GAME ON THE GOOGLE PLAY STORE OR SOMETHING. It is really good and polished. Thank you and I am glad you managed to draw the Godot icon... I couldn't even do that ;(

So wholesome :)! Well atleast as long I made profit haha. Great Game !

Developer

Thank you! Loved the progress of your guys' game on discord and it reminds me of some of my favorite games. I love how seamless it is to play!!

Submitted(+1)

I've played this a couple of times, and some of the paintings you need to forge have red, but there's no red on the palette.  Also, it would be nice to have like 2-3 minutes per round, along with how much you need to raise, and how much you get per painting on submit.   All that to say, I do enjoy the game for what it is, and the paintings are great.

Developer

Thank you for the comment! I think the red might be more of a pink. Not sure tho.

Developer(+1)

shhhhhh we just did that to make players mad (*crying on the inside because I had no idea*). Loved how your game was played and their was text pop ups for all the equipment!!! Helped me a lot! A lot of the mechanics reminded me of some of my favorite games too!

Submitted(+2)

great game! very relaxing, interesting take on the theme too! and high potential for funny poorly drawn art XD

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the comment!

Developer

bro... you did so much better than I did drawing it... and it only took you like 30 seconds... HAHAHA. Your game is so artistic and I love the style. It's simply amazing!! The tower defense style was really fun too and all the combinations were super cool!

Submitted(+1)

Great program, but not much of a game, it's more of a tool for homing your copying skills. Besides, it's kind of hard to do anything in such a small time limit.

Submitted(+1)

It might also be because I'm a terrible artist.

Developer

You gotta learn how to forge art some how! Thanks for the feedback! I loved your crafting and harvesting clicker mechanics!!
