I was hoping the art style in the game was similar to the hand drawn background on the page. Interesting idea none the less. Having a bit of background ambiance would really help sell it.

Developer

yeah, i drew the background, but then decided i actually wanted to play around with godot 4's tilemaps, so i just kept the drawing for the main menu even if it didn't feel super coherent with the game. oh well! thanks for your comment!

I knew the tiles change each time, but are the sentences procedurally generated as well? :surprised_pikachu_face:

I get nightmare and wake twice each, couldn't get a good dream. Either way, a beautiful game, as always! :)

Developer

the path tiles are changed randomly on every scene, while the grass correspond to your dream tone. the sentences are assembled randomly from pre-written options, so it's not that impressive. i wish i would've had more time to improve that aspect of the game.

thanks a lot for playing, and for your kind words. :)

well done for 30 hours of work!

Developer

it was actually less than that, i just created the project about 30 hours before the deadline, but really didn't feel like crunching. :P
still, thank you for your kind words, and for playing the game! :)

I played twice and got the nightmare ending both times :( Fun little demo for such a short time frame! Good job!

Developer

thank you for playing! :)

For only 30 hours of work, this is pretty good! I'm not sure why, but the zooming in on the path made me slightly motion sick, but that's probably just my dumb stomach (I can't do 3D games generally). I thought the text of the game was very interesting and like that it's effectively a choose-your-own-adventure with a little extra! Well done, hope to see more next jam!

thank you for your feedback! i definitely would've added a setting for a "less upsetting" movement if i had had the time for any settings menu. glad you still managed to enjoy a little bit of it. :)

oh I thought it was very interesting! I enjoyed it.

The game hung for me at some point after “mildly strange” but it continued after a minute or two. Not sure what was going on there. After a few more clicks I got the second ending and the game looped back. Is there a credits screen or it will just loop back to the beginning?

I enjoyed the zooming effect and the random explosion script was quite funny. Well done!

Developer (1 edit)

i ran out of time for the usual victims, so no, no credits screen, no proper menu screen, very minimal gameplay, etc. when you continue after one of the three endings, it just restarts the gameplay scene.

thank you playing!
