Hey, so I played through both maze, here are a few feedbacks :

- The first stage contains a bit too many ghosts, and dodging them wasn't really fun. It was kind of a bullet hell sometimes, but without space to move around so I got stuck between a ghost and a hard place a few times.

- The second stage had no ghosts for some reason (bug ?).

- The flashlight didn't look good and didn't feel useful, as there isn't enough contrast between a lit area and a dark one. If I can see everything without a flashlight, it then feels pretty pointless to have one.

- The controls felt very weird, I didn't like the idea of locking the flashlight in the direction of the movement. Because I thought the flashlight had gameplay use (I thought it was necessary to see the ghosts, except I can see them either way ?) it felt frustrating to control.

- Audio work is decent, although I'd advise making the walking sound a bit more irregular. I liked the sound, I think it gives a good atmosphere, but it being so "on the beat" makes it feel a bit unnatural.

- Using colored lights as markers for important points in the maze is a great idea. The mazes felt also neatly designed, not too hard but it's still possible to get lost, and you don't find the solution immediately. It also felt instinctual for the white light to be the exit, pretty nice choice.

- Game works fine, has no visible bugs (excepts for the ghosts disappearing from the second maze, but it's minor), it's pretty clear what you need to do and there's even a menu !

Huge congrats on a successful jam entry ! I think you were really close to making something very good :))

Edit : small point I forgot, that's a frequent issue I find on even fully released games : the camera should show the road ahead of you, not behind you.

I got through one maze, but then I appeared in another maze, so I assumed it was an endless series of procedurally generated mazes and quit. If that's not the case, then maybe the game could benefit from some indication that the game is working as intended and the player is making progress after they complete their first maze.

Travelling up and down felt a bit unfair because I couldn't see very far ahead.

Nice entry.

Thanks for your comment.

The maze only has 2 stages because I thought it was too easy with only 1 stage. It should have been clearer. :P However, an indication of the player's progress is definitely a great idea. The traveling up and down was intentional;  it was supposed to mimic someone wandering down a dark alley.

pretty cute game, but the way the flashlight moves is kind of weird - and I recognize that light texture from godot tutorial ^^

Developer

It is, lol. This was my first time using lights in Godot :) Thanks!

I won! Really liked the lighting in the game. I liked your ghost art, but for whatever reason I didn't see very many of them after the first minute or so of player.

Developer

Thanks for the compliment!

As for the ghosts, I'm not sure what's going on. For some reason, the ghosts don't spawn in the second phase of the maze :P and I ran out of time to find out why.

Nice game, the visuals are simple but cute. It was pretty easy.

At first I thought that the flashlight was meant to scare the ghosts away but it doesn’t seem to do anything. It’s not really useful in term of lighting up the way either because of the huge white ray which covers everything in front of you. The fact that you cannot aim while walking is also kind of strange.

Still, congrats for your game and keep it up! :)

The flashlight WAS supposed to scare ghosts away and destroy them upon contact with the light, but I ran out of time to implement it :P This is only my second game jam and I still sometimes make the mistake of planning on adding too much to my games. I removed the ability to aim the flashlight while walking in order to prevent the player from circling the flashlight to form a "shield".

But still, thanks for the feedback!

Had me clicking on the thumbnail because the ghost looked really cool and I thought I was playing it.

straight forward game and easy control, but felt like the flashlight the player was holding was disregarded in some way.

Developer

The flashlight was supposed to destroy ghosts, but I ran out of time to implement it.

Thanks for the feedback though!

Nice game, the first maze took me a couple of tries, the colored lights definitely helped with orienting myself :) Keep it up!
