Looks like a really polished game.

I will player it and give you detailed feedback ;)

Edit:

Nice game,

Amazing music, art and gameplay overall

I didnt think all this work can be finished alone in 9 days, its impressive

just change the main screen music. it is so disturbing.

Its a bit buggy try to fix this bug:

- If you exit a level from where you enter (like falling below the one side collision planks)

- make the reset button reset the scene rather than just changing player position

The game looks really good but is hard to play and the difficulty probably needs to be a little easier at the start. Maybe it's just me though, I struggle with platformers in general

Could use a volume control!

Hey Pete,

most people found it really difficult at the beginning, but the more you play it the better you'll get.
latest update introduced custom controls. maybe that would help.

thanks for your comment and I would really appreciate rating the game here Akrot's World.

I too found the controls hard at the beginning.  I feel like it would be easier using a gamepad type controller rather than keyboard controls or if you auto-climbed walls.  Seems pretty well polished considering the creation timeframe.  I don't quite see how it fits into the theme, so an intro or something may help there.  Good submission.

This game looks very polished, from the start screen to the game mechanics and the music. I'm not a fan of the controls though. On an azerty keyboard, the c, x and z keys are not all in a row making it super hard to play. I also ran into a bug where the game showed the wrong screen after the character moved to the next screen.

Hello Mathijs,

Thank you so much for commenting, I really appreciate your words and it motivated me to keep on working on the game and improve it.

regarding the controls, I added the ability to customize your own controls in the latest update.

Reworking the camera system and transition is already in my to-do list.

I would really appreciate rating the game here Akrot's World.

I'm also open for suggestions.
Thanks again!

I don't know if I'm wrong but I can see a lot of inspiration from celeste in this which I absolutely love. However again I dont exactly see how it fits into the theme like FryDev has said. Th controls were good enough although yeah I think you should change the default inputmap to something more intuitive, especially those who rarely plays Platformer2Ds. The dash was fun to use although seems a little bit weak(but again considering the amount of time the game was made in I suppose one can't demand too much), the character seems responsive to me but a little bit slippery. Finally the climbing was hard to use, especially when you are hanging at the edges and wants to jump up but somehow can't. Besides that the music was good too!

hello, SpaghettiLord

I'm new to game development. so I'm still in the process of learning. as I mentioned in the game page. I exactly copied Celeste's levels design. cause I wanted to learn how to do other stuff before learning how to level design.

regarding the game jam theme. since I'm new to game development.  I didn't really know how game jams work. I should've read the description better. sorry about that.
regarding the controls, I added the option which will allow you to set your own controls in the latest update.

I'll consider increasing the jump/dash power.

I think ill need to rework the player's collision shape to make climbing easier.

music was made using beepbox.

I would really appreciate rating the game here Akrot's World, thank you so much for your feedback. and I'm open for suggestions.

It was a fine game. The controls were clunky, as you made C the jump key, when you could've easily used the vacant up arrow.  The dash also felt pretty weak, as did the normal jump too. Also, I have a hard time seeing how you made the game tie into the solarpunk theme, seeing as there is nothing thematically in the game that reflects it. Still a fine platformer though.

I used an independent key for jumping to allow players to move up while climbing, I could add more power to jumping and dashing if it's really needed.
