Looks  good.  I love the sound effects of the guy getting pissed.  Maybe next time put a tutorial, for folks  like me, who could't quite figure out what to do

Thanks for trying! I originally had a help text that you could toggle but forgot to put it back when I submitted. The rules are explained in the game’s page. Basically you left click to target one unit, then you can right click to target a money printer or move around. With a yellow jacket you can target the boss.

Otherwise the units resume their stupid AI and the point of the game was to babysit all these units, one at a time. I lacked time to debug and polish the balance. I did not have enough time to do all I wanted (plus getting sidetracked all the time with livestreaming), but I learned a lot about Godot :)

I'm finding this game confusing.  I'm just not able to figure it out.  I killed the boss but I'm not sure if that's a good thing.  Either way, good job on interesting game play mechanics and multiple movable characters.

Yes it is confusing both on purpose and not. It’s the main reproach people had. It was an expansion of my submission for GMTK which theme was “Out of Control”. I did not have enough time to debug everything and balance the game :/

The rules are described on the game page, basically you can left click to target a unit but only one at a time. Then right click to order it to move or target a money printer (only yellow jackets can target the boss). Otherwise they have some kind of stupid AI and the point was to make the player babysit them one at a time!

Originally the yellow jackets were also attacking each other and I think that mechanic is important for the original idea but it would have felt even more out-of-control for GWJ.

Thanks for trying and I will give some feedback on yours soon too!

Haha, love the ending. Took a minute to figure out the mechanics, but pretty soon after that I had my boss defeated!

Cool that some people managed to understand how to play! :D That’s the main reproach people had. The rules are explained on the game page btw, but it does not appear on the submission which is quite sad.

I had a toggle-able help text in game but forgot to activate it back before submitting :( Same for the music.

Next time I will go for something simpler, I will also already know a lot more about Godot. And livestream less when I’m purely programming because that’s really bad for my focus :D

Nice game, I couldn't figure out what the controls are

Developer

Right I removed the help in game, I should do update that tomorrow. Thanks for trying anyway.

You can left click to select a unit then right click to order it to move or target something.

Otherwise when unselected they have some kind of stupid AI that you’ll have to babysit!

You can read all the details on the gamepage: https://vikfro.itch.io/attack-of-the-macrabron

I’ll try and rate your game tomorrow! I need sleep rn :D

K thanks for explaining I can  play it to rate  now

I do love me some good political satire. Even if I can't understand it haha. Interesting idea having different types of units that auto upgrade and don't always do what you want. Controls were a bit awkward and too much money ended up being printed so I couldn't properly move to the boss by the end.

Thanks for trying and the good feedback :) I rated your game and gave you thorough feedback in the comments.

Yeah I did not spend enough time on the UX (more animations and sounds) & “tutorial” phase. Balancing all the parameters (speed, range) takes so much time!

I put a limit on the respawn of the money printers but it did not work for some reason, that was the latest thing I was trying to debug to get a better version.

The AI/control of the units is buggy too, sometimes they reset their state after you gave them an order, or their automatic AI does not pickup on detected resources / enemy.

I want to clean it up, there’s like more than a thousand lines of pure code written in 30-40h, so it was not super clean and I broke things as soon as I add new ones :D

It was mostly for the learning experience, the memes, and meeting lots of new people like you!

I’m very sorry for the huge file size, I got a problem with the export. I have now cleaned it up in another download file, it is the exact same code except for a directory which filename caused the bug (capital letter).

So in the stress of the last few minutes I just created a messy zip that seems to work! (Windows only)

Anyway hope you still get a laugh at this meme and if you want feedback on your game I will check it out!
