How does your game fit the theme?
The player character is a dice that rolls around the board to move. The dice can be customised with different 'actions' on the faces. The geometry of the dice restricts how the player can move and act, rather than providing a random element.

This is a very fun game, and a great core concept! As some others have mentioned, this was definitely the best way I've seen the "style" of game done, and it's really cool that you made it feel so enjoyable and unique! I did run into a hard-lock, where it seemed that "squashing" a goblin while having the Shield up seemed to just prevent me from making further moves? But other than that, I had a blast!

Nice game. I dig this mechanic I'm seeing where you can place skills to the dice. And the way spells can affect the map. The graphics are beautiful and sounds pleasant. Game feels bit easy for the most part, before you get spawn camped at level 7.

Good job!

Very interesting concept ! The inventory rapidly gets flooded by items, so maybe having less treasure chests would be a good idea. I loved it !

Really nice concept, one of the better "rolling a die with the face up side determining your action" games I've played! I generally didn't like a lot of those that used regular numbered die as I find it very hard to know what number I'll get when rolling, but here since you can customize the dice that's much less of an issue!

Some potential areas of improvement if you want to keep this as a roguelike: the goblin AI is predictable and the fact that you can try to move into a wall in order to stay in the same spot while they come toward you makes it a little easy to exploit. The First Aid ability is also very overpowered, once you get that pretty much the only way you can die is to play extremely badly and/or get trapped on 3 sides by goblins. Also once you get your die set up the way you like there's no point to collecting more powerups.

I say "if you want to keep this as a roguelike" because I think this would actually be a great framework for a really simple but engaging puzzle game! Much more than all the other "roll the die onto the correct face" puzzle games in this jam. Have specifically made levels where you give the player a premade dice layout, health amount, etc, and they have to find the right sequence to survive and escape!

Nice work!

Thanks for playing, and for the feedback! That's a really nice idea about making it a puzzle game, I might actually give that a go! The goblins continuing to come towards you when you roll into the wall is definitely an oversight on my part, I agree it makes the game way too easy.

Let me know if you do get a puzzle version finished, I'd be keen to try it! Regarding what I said about having a premade dice layout, maybe actually giving certain abilities per level and have the player construct the right die to solve it would be better? But that would definitely open up a lot of extra possibilities to consider in the level design... Haha, it's pretty fun to think about!

I was feeling very OP with my 3 swords and 3 first aids until spawned into a level in a corner with 2 goblins and my heal facing up :').

Doh! Yeah I need to find a way to make it possible to get out when you're cornered like that. Thanks for playing!

Simple but addictive gameplay. The game fits the theme really well. My strategy usually uses shield to attract the monster and then kill them all with fireball

Thanks for playing :)

This is a seriously awesome concept, really enjoyed this one! With more polish/balancing/content I could see this being a full-fledged roguelike, there's a ton of possibility space for different abilities and builds you could make. The difficulty was a bit off (the heal is really OP) but it's honestly a minor point for a jam, and could be fixed by making more "consumable" sides that can only be used once.  Great work, top marks!

Thanks so much! I'm definitely keen to flesh this out a bit more, thanks for the feedback!

Very cool concept, love the art style. As a head's up, I encountered a bug on the second level; I had burned an enemy, rolled into that tile, took burn damage, and when I tried to move up to the next tile the game froze. I could still open my menu, but couldn't move.

Thank you! I appreciate the bug report, I think I managed to find the issue :)

Really how you use the theme, i only feel that difficulty its not increasing.

Developer(+1)

Yeah that is true, I'd like to add more enemy types for the future to increase the difficulty as you progress. Thanks for playing!
