Neat concept! The trail you leave from picking up snow makes moving around very satisfying. I did find the second and third level quite difficult, but it was fun to play nonetheless. Nice job!
It was fun to roll around, but I found it waaaay too hard. This was partly level design and partly control sensitivity. The concept is really neat, though.
Thanks for your feedback!
Maybe it's a bit controversial for a gamejam entry, but the difficulty was sort of intended to be this way.
We had hoped to scale the difficulty more gradually, but didn't have enough time for more levels in-between the 3.
Glad you still had fun tho :D
It's good to know it was an intentional design decision, at least.
nice job on your game! fun picking things up with the snowball!
Glad you enjoyed it :D
Don't play the web build on a less powerful machine, my computer nearly crashed on loading it!
That said the actual game was fun, as other people have said it can be challenging, but that's ok. I was expecting more Monkey Ball/Katamari things so it's nice to see the inspiration. Well done!
Thank you for playing!
I'm sorry to hear that you had such an experience when loading the web version. I'll include that in the disclaimer.
Hopefully I can sort out the performance issues for the post-jam patch/es.
I was originally testing it on a ThinkPad T480 on Linux with both Firefox and Chromium. Despite the performance and camera issues on Firefox, I didn't experience such an extreme situation like you've described.
Could you tell me your specs so I can maybe run a similar configuration in a virtual machine when I'll be trying to optimize the game?
it might just be me then because I have a pretty decent computer (apart from processor) and the entire PC hung and the fans went crazy. I did have Unity open too, but idk
Ryzen 7 5800x, 16gb ram, 3060ti
Oh that is really bizarre, thank you for sharing your specs tho. I can't emulate them cause I've only got a GTX1060, but knowing that there's something hogging up your resources like tells me there's something terribly wrong going on...
Neat idea, but the difficulty scales up a bit too fast. I didn’t get hooked enough to push through and get good :b
The web version also takes a while to load levels & restart, and that definitely didn’t help with staying motivated to keep trying. But, without a web version I wouldn’t have tried this at all.
Do you have any plans for post-jam updates?
Thank you for playing and your feedback!
Difficulty was supposed to scale up slower, but this was our first project and we didn't get to do everything in time.
Great point about the restart time tho.
As for post-jam updates: I hope to address the performance and camera issues in the web version first + polish the game up and generally make the experience more enjoyable. But I'm not sure about how fast we'll release patches as there's more stuff to learn about and everyone's going to have less free-time to dedicate to the project.
I like the look of this game! It was difficult getting the game to load but once it did it's a cool concept, though pretty unforgiving - I kept rolling off the edge super quickly.
Thank you so much for taking the time to get it running and leaving feedback! :D
The issues with the web version were something we learned about last minute, sorry about that.
