It is quite satisfying to see our swarm of ants grow and follow around.! However they are not really good at pathfinding. The toughest obstacle weren't the enemies (although even with a lot of soldier they manage to kill quite a lot of ants), but tights gaps or bridge that certainly made me lose a lot of ants behind. I'm glad the dev option to spawn ant is still here.^^But even with that, I couldn't reach the end, as even with the biggest colony possible only less than 100 ants were able to follow me back home. Still, you did a good job to manage to display so many ants on screen and make them behave like a realistic ants group!
It's a really cool idea and well executed for such a small time frame. It felt a little unwieldy when I got a whole bunch of ants, but the chaos was fun too. The signs can be a little hard to read when the camera zooms out a lot. It gave me Pikmin and Bugdom vibes, which is definitely a good thing.
Interesting idea and cute art. The ants sometimes get stuck, but it’s really fun to have an army of ants. Great game!
I really enjoyed the concept. I like how the ants are programmed to move, they feel so alive.
Loved the concept of the game! it felt like Pikmin, this is lik Antmin XD. Did lose a bunch of ants and get frustrated, but nice gameloop in general, would recomend improving the following code, as sometimes ants get too stucked.
This game is so much fun! It's so cute seeing those little army of ants gathering resources for your colony.
There is one problem that is the ants are not very smart, so they keeping getting stuck near the bridges.
Thanks! It's good to know other people think they're cute, we were worried people wouldn't like seeing a swarm of bugs!
Yea, they get stuck easily. We widened the gates and removed some obstacles after submission, which helped a ton with them getting stuck. Leaving behind some of the ants is kind of a cool unintended feature though! I like when you're out and some long-forgotten ant rejoins you.
Really like the concept I love games where u scale ur power like that. I found out that you can right click to spawn ants for free and went crazy with that lol. The ant AI is cool it looks like boids or smth.
Good game!
Loved guiding my little anties around to do my bidding) Music is fun. Anties do get stuck on geometry sometimes and get lost and their number decreased at some point without me understanding why, but overall a solid experience!
A very cool idea! Loved how the ants gracefully switch between wandering chaotically around you and following you in an organized group. Unfortunately I found it very hard to progress: ants get stuck in bridges or narrow passages extremely often, so I end up gathering just enough resources to prevent the ant population from shrinking. Enemies seemed way too harsh as well: they immediately kill a lot of your ants before your soldier ants start attacking them. After a few skirmishes I lost all my ~40 ants except for a few soldier ones, so I decided it’s better to just avoid them. It would probably help if there was a mode when all your ants hide somewhere, and only soldiers follow you. Losing soldiers in battles isn’t that bad, since they’re useless otherwise.
Anyways, congrats on your submission! I’d be happy if you tried my game as well: https://lisyarus.itch.io/color-fractory
Pretty fun stuff! Reminds me of Pikmin, but a bit more automated so you can focus on adventuring and growing in numbers.
