How does your game fit the theme?
Our game fits the theme 'Built to Scale' by implementing the concept of balance into the core gameplay. The players must carefully manage weights across a scale, ensuring that both sides remain balanced. The challenge lies in maintaining this Balance and players can strategically buy upgrades to keep the scale from tipping too far in either direction. The entire experience is designed around the idea of scaling and balancing, making every move a critical decision. In our game, 'Built to Scale' is the foundation of how you play and succeed.

Great visuals and interesting combination of 2d and 3d. I liked how it introduced restraint in what and how many veggies you chop to subvert expectations from this genre's typical approach. Well done!

The Graphics are great but i unfortenetly dont get it how to play :(

Developer

oh like what exactly? what the controls are or what the purpose ist :D

Submitted

I didn't get the purpose right ^-^

Liked the enemy variety and the mix of 2D and 3D art. I didn’t get the idea first, but when it clicked, I found it interesting and adds some strategy to the mix.

Good job!

Such a good concept, nice mechanics and lovely artstyle! ♥ The music is okay, but a bit too monotonous for the fight, although it does sound like it's from a restaurant. I guess the only minus is that the game freezes for a moment after clicking "start game", other than that, I really liked it! Good job! ♥

Holyy, what a smart submission. Combining a 2D and 3D world with a really intuitive goal. With great art too!! Great job!!

Love the game! I didn't realize at first that I could shoot knives at the veggies but when I understood what I needed to do it was really fun! Good job!

The implementation of the balancing is a clever design and mechanic that lets the player set their own progression curve. If you play defensively then it will be always in balance, but you'll have a harder time surviving later on. If you farm too much then you'll have to do equally well on the next scale, and if you didn't do well on the first scale - it can turn into a survival horror game on the second scale.  The player is either punished or rewarded in a snowball towards positive and negative feedback loop as enemies chase you around and you are denied resource to get stronger if you play it too safe.

The game can benefit from a lot more juice in the controls , audio fx, and interface, which is something I would look forward to if in a full game.

Nice game ! I like the take on vampire survivor like in kitchen, slicing ennemy into the balance and the pixel art look pretty good !

I quite like the idea. The character sprites look wonderful. The 3D scale was a nice touch. Having upgrades to choose from is always fun.

I had a couple of issues though. There was a bug where after the time had run out, the game unpaused and i got the ran out of lives message because there were enemies that attacked me before the next phase came up. The projectiles and the chili were way too fast to have any chance to react.

Aside from that, the game would really benefit from some juice 8)

Solid submission, well done!

This was a neat idea although a little bit tricky to understand at first. Art was charming and I felt bad killing the vegetables and fruit lol. The game fits the theme nicely and I had a lot of fun!

It would be nice if the player was granted invincibility frames after being hit, as especially with that burst attack it's easy to die immediately despite having multiple hearts. Bigger, and more clearer telegraphs or indications an enemy is about to attack would be nice as well since the camera is relatively zoomed out and everything is pixelated.

Great work, good luck for the rest of the jam!

Really fun and such a nice mix of stylized pixelated 3d and 2d pixel art! Also the gameplay is fun and creative. I'm still a bit salty (pun intended) though that the tomatos can oneshot you if all of their projectiles hit. Still amazing game :)

The pixel art is cute and I felt like the game's difficulty was just right for me! Broccoli got me a few times but I could have prevented that by playing better, so it never felt unfair. Great job!

I had a bit of a hard time understanding this at first, but once I got it, I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed this! The enemy variety is very nice. The long term loop of balancing the scale is confusing as I had no idea what contributed to the scale being balanced vs unbalanced and some enemies are straight up nonsense (I think a strawberry sent a flurry of projectiles at me that killed me almost immediately) but the gameplay loop is fun and the theming is very cute.

I was confused at first but figured it out eventually. The basic gameplay loop was pretty fun, but it kind of hard to tell whether or not I was tipping the scales especially when the consequences were so dire. Either way - I enjoyed playing it

I love the idea really cool that you have to ballance the enemise

Art style is top nocht.  How do you manage to do these low poly psx 3d art style? it mixed well with the pixel art also. Cool characters, the expllosion releasing itens was so satisfying. Congratulations.

Developer

Thank you!
The 3D art style was achieved by making a low poly model in Blender and the "pixel-filter" was made in Godot.

If you like to know more check the "3D pixel art shader" video from "Crigz Vs Game Dev" out.

This game not only looks super good (love the 2d and 3d mix btw... different scales there too), but is also super fun to play. Great work! You deserve way more ratings

Really great take on the theme! Took me a full round to understand the mechanic, but it's really cool! nice way to mix strategy and skill for both parts!
