Cute little game with nice puzzles. I liked the ones with the pipe, required some maneuvers to complete.
Enjoyed playing this one! The role reversal was evident , good controls and interesting concept, got trashed by the plumber a number of times , nice one! keep it up!
Got stick a few times but good work.
Nice game, but got stuck on the walls and ceiling 2 subsequent times
This is cool. I've always wanted a game where you play as bowser and try to kidnap peach officially from Nintendo. Unfortunately this usage of the theme only works within the context of the Mario universe. If you get rid of the art assets, there's no reversal of roles here. I also thought the game was way too easy, and feel that it would've been much harder if Mario was faster than you so you had to use clever routing to evade him. Still a fun game. Great Job.
Nintendo is coming for your ass. Interesting concept, good on you for making 7 levels. Hitboxes could use some work, but overall it was an OK game.
fast bowser
Congrats on picking up Godot and submitting a game! It's definitely a fun engine
I do wish the game had more levels, or maybe some more complicated ones, as there isn't much to challenge the player right now sadly
Turning the platformer game into something of a puzzle could be an interesting idea. I think the presentation of the game could have benefitted from original characters rather than using Mario's though. In terms of design, making Mario slightly faster than Bowser would have allowed you to make better puzzles that require you to keep Mario at a distance to where he can't catch you throughout the entire level. I can just keep moving and Mario will never catch me with the speed the same as it is. The music doesn't fit the game at all and gets old fast. If it was something with a faster tempo to make it feel like a chase that would have been much better for the tone of the game. Coding wise it works alright, but there are a few bugs. One is that Bowser can get stuck in the walls since when he runs right you can see that there are a few pixels that can appear behind him in the animation allowing you to clip into the wall. The second is that if you run in any direction toward a wall, Mario can never reach you. He just stops. Not entirely game-breaking as once you move you're generally dead, but still.
Don't be afraid to take risks and get more creative in your design. It will make you need to think outside of the box for your code and the game much more interesting for players. Keep going, my friend.
Such a fun idea! The music was pretty repetitive and could have used just a bit more, but the puzzles were fun :) Nice job!
Haha really fun and original game! Also the text "Mario got you" is really intimidatingXD
Super creative! This is a fun spin on the game jam topic.
Fun concept! However there are some issues that come with the submission.
During the "level complete" screen many objects hide the button to proceed to the next level, making it difficult to press.
Sometimes mario will get stuck on corners trying to chase you, this is very rare, but did ruin some of the later levels difficulty.
the overall presentation is very amateur ish. using the NES Super Mario Bros sprites is fine, however using stock Godot UI nodes for buttons, with a simple gray background makes the game really unappealing to look at.
The game however is a cool idea! I like the concept of having the stealth around Mario at times, and some chases can get quite intense! You have a good future in games development ahead if you carry on improving and learning!
Yeah, I'm aware of these issues. The ui issues come from opening the game in fullscreen, which can be avoided in the downloadable exe. This is my first game made in a new engine, which is why it is kinda ameteurish. I'll have to keep these in mind for my next game. Thank you for your feedback!
The UI bug has been fixed by changing the size of the embedded viewport.
