The idea of maintaining a certain distance between both characters and the visuals are very good! But I think the level design could be a little more challenging in order to leverage the best of the concept! Also, I finished the game without a controller, bruteforcing my way through the jump level... I know you put a disclaimer on the game page, but adding a keyboard jump button for the second character is crucial, as it's even against the jam rules to have a 'controller only' game. But I hope to see more of the project, it really has lots of potential! Good job!
Thank you for playing out game! We literally used our last two hours on level design and you really can't believe how frustrating that feels when we forgot to add jump to the guy and not being able to upload a bugfix until jam is over. There are lots of other things that we forgot to fix but is waiting for the jam to end so we can upload it.
It's tough... but hey! The jam is almost over! I'll be waiting for the post jam version ;)
The base concept here has a lot of potential. I think if the gameplay was just a little more polished you'd be top 100. You have very solid sound and art for the game jam - even if the audio is not made in the 48 hours it helps a lot.
For the gameplay, I agree with others that having a "lost the connection fail screen" and having to restart the game is a big bummer. I was interested enough to restart the game manually a few times, which I think is proof that your concept is good.
I liked the narrative, but for a jam game I would prefer minimal text up front. It is a lot to ask of a player to read through text, and I think some people may even be turned off to your game after seeing the text. I could see the game being really great if text was used later once the player was already invested, and more of the narrative was delivered through gameplay. Of course though, this is a game jam so this is a great job considering that.
I would make it a little clearer what the objective of the gameplay is if possible. I liked that the onboarding was learning towards less up front onboarding, but I found myself confused too.
Overall though, pretty enjoyable experience. Sorry if I rambled on a bit.
I would love your rating / comments on my game as well, to see what I can improve too.
Thanks for playing our game! Sorry about the "lost the connection" screen. Things got a bit hectic towards the end and some things were forgotten. Thanks also for the feedback, I can agree with all of your points.
I really liked the concept of this, it seems very polished in terms of graphics and story. Unfortunately I kept failing the game and every time I did I couldn't leave the "You lost the connection" fail screen, which meant I had to restart the entire program. So that's a shame, because I wanted to see more of it.
Hopefully you'll put out an update after the jam, it would be nice to see how the story progresses.
Thank you so much for playing our game! Those bugs are my bad, I forgot to add restart button at the end, there are lots of other bugs that we simply didn't have time and forgot to fix. We already have bugfix version waiting for end of jam to upload.
I like the idea of this game. I would suggest rethinking the text/font you're using since the green dots inside it and its animation in the middle all made it harder to read.
Thanks for playing our game! Agreed, the font was a very last-minute addition. Funny thing is that the green dots aren't actually green but teal, although they do look green which doesn't even really fit the color scheme. Thanks for the feedback!
I liked the concept of controlling both characters at the same time. Loved the visuals and effects the missing element is atmospheric background music to evaluate the overall expirience. Other then that it's a very nice game.
Thank you for the feedback and for playing our game!
Super cool! Moving two characters separately but having to keep their positions the same relative to each other is a very interesting idea. I will say though, the isometric perspective is a little bit awkward, since a lot of the time I couldn't tell what was a path and what was a wall. Also, I couldn't figure out how to jump with the blue guy. Despite those issues, I really enjoyed this game!
thank you for playing our game! We forgot to implement jump for blue guy with keyboard. Will add them in furute updates, and will consider your opinion at camera.
