Nice twist to the genre. The gameplay, art style and sound design made me feel like a kid again, great trip on memory lane (wish i had an Amiga joystick). I don't think the game is slow (it's just as it's supposed to be). But if, in the future, you do change the speed, than maybe it would be good to balance it with the picking up of other ships mechanic. What I mean is: the ship becomes slower with every other picked up ship. In this way the player has to strategies when/why to pick up other ships or when to skip them. All in all well done!
Great concept, solid execution.
Feels really bad and frustrating when you shoot one of the ships that's become a pickup and it disappears though, especially since your glued ships autofire. going all the way to the top of the screen to pick up a ship also feels like more trouble than its worth honestly, maybe the green ships could drift down to the player? trade the risk of getting hit with the risk of not getting the power up if it goes off the bottom of the screen.
thanks for the feedback! We did want it to be harder to get new ships once you have a bunch attached but them floating down is a pretty good idea
Really nice idea. The ship did feel a bit sluggish to me. And the transitions on death went quite fast.
Good game! Having the enemies turn into a collectible that sticks to your ship on death to provide extra firepower + health is a great mechanic that required no explanation for me to instantly get. The lives system in particular reminds me of playing galaxian at an arcade : ) nice work
I don't know much about Pico 8 but I really respect it :) Little slow for my tastes but It looks very pretty
