That's a pretty great concept! Using time loop to solve a mystery, it can give really cool results.

I got stuck quickly though. Found some dead ends, and nothing ever came out from the database (I tried some key words like "murder" or "bakery", and names such as "Ms Green" or "Simone Bells").

The style is pleasant to read too! For what I've seen, it's a nice story. Well done!

Developer

Thank you, awesome the hear. Except the part about getting stuck of course. I am aware of some dead ends, which I have solved unfortunately this was past the jam deadline. You getting close with your database searches. Perhaps try puzzling together someone else's full name, as you probably don't have enough information for that of Ms Green.

I like the idea, but the game seems unfinished. Some options lead to a dead end. Searching the database never gives me any results. I'd love to see this worked out more and be able to do a full playthrough.

Developer

Yes as I mentioned in the description, at the end I had little time left to write a full story so instead focused on having a setup for a story. Could you let me know what phrases you used when searching in the database? I would be helpful to know what players are thinking at those points.

If I remember correctly, I just tried some of the names which had appeared until that moment in the story.

Developer

Oké, then your head was in the right direction. You would have needed to use the full name of the characters. At first you tend to only get a first or last name with a full name only later on, or combine two names you picked up separately.

An interesting story. But at some point the text would just stop with no choices left, it didn't seem like that was meant to happen. Also, I definitely appreciate the text-to-speech.

Developer

Do you happen to remember where this was in the story? I would love to see where I screwed up.

yes, I probably should have mentioned that. I just checked again to make sure.

When the game loops back to the start, I clicked "Wait what... home..." > "Open the door". It seems to happen regardless of what path I chose before the loop. I didn't notice this with any other options.

Developer

Oké, thanks for the quick reply.  I found the issue turns out the fallback options isn't working as I intended it to.

The concept sounds really interesting, but the text would just stop without any new choices. Also the voice quickly became annoying.

Developer

Thank you! And feel free to mute it using the speaker icon in the top right corner.

I love this concept in the form of a metroidvania (as you said).  However, the current story fits better into a noir novel.

Developer

Yea, as I mentioned in the post as well  I might have reinvented the wheel there. And Noir is more of story theme than something with certain mechanicals.

A nice and simple text storytelling experience.

It's a bit annoying having to wait for the dialogue to be "spoken".
