The concept is nice, and once you understand how to play it is fun. Unfortunately, that is the hard part. I would love to see a little tutorial at the beginning or at least something different from a wall of text in the main menu. Overall it is really nice, and I would like to see it upgraded!

Really funny concept, and the choice of music was just perfect xD So much potential, will definitely be following this and seeing how it develops! I would have loved to see items being checked off the list as you collected them, and maybe different audio cues for collecting items that are/aren't on the list to make things a bit clearer for the player. I wasn't quite sure what the Speak to Manager powerup did, but I'm sure you could come up with something hilarious if you're working on it again!! Great work, really enjoyed it.

Thank you for the feedback! That is an interesting idea I would have to look into (having different audio ques for correct and incorrect items). Most of the audio was a last minute add in, but I am glad that most poeple enjoyed it. There is a "How to play button" that kind of explain what the powerup does, but It was written very badly so I can understand why you would have had problems understanding what the powerup does. So the evey time you collect an item an integer gets +1 to it, depending on how big that integer is when you arrive at the checkout you will have to wait for that integer/2 = waiting seconds. When you use "Talk to manager" that integer is set to 0 so even if you collected 50 items and you use the powerup you will not have to wait at the checkout. Hope that was a bit better to understand. Again thanks for the feedback!

The shop looks super cool and the premise of leaving your baby behind and being limited on time gave the game a lot of speedrun potential. I guess since we're rushing, the 'mum' doesn't really have time to cross out items on her checklist which makes sense. Signs above the products would be nice so that we can plan on where to run to as most shops have that.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback, that is a pretty nice idea. When I finish my exams and start working on the game again I will be sure to add your idea in, thanks!

Hi, I would like to speak to the manager. HAHAHAHAHA Had lots of fun while playing this one. Probably provide some visual feedback whether I already got the items or not + I think there is a bug where I win even if I just left my baby for just 5 seconds which is weird. Still, good job. Would like to see more development in this game.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I have never stumbled upon that bug.Hmm.. could you give me other details of what happened to lead to that bug? Was it a specific shopping list or...? If you can't remember that's fine, thank you for trying out my game!

This is what I did while testing it out: 1.) Do not interact with the baby first and then interact with the pepper.

2.) Interact with the baby very fast and then interact with any object.

The thing though is it is super random which is weird. But still, was able to play longer after 2-3 tries :D Still can't get over with the manager voice hahahaha

Developer

Hmm.. interesting, will make sure to check it out once I have more time, thanks!

Haha, what I would advice to add more images to the submission page! So you can bring in more players maybe! :) I'm going through now the lesser rated ones and already found this funny gem! After reading the tutorial it was generally understandable what I need to do, and the powerups were clever too! Well done!

Developer

Thanks you for your feedback. Yes probably more images of the game, better thumbnail and having the game run in the browser would bring in more player (or atleast those are some of the things I've noticed as well). I will keep that in mind for future game jams, thanks for the advice!

There was obviously a lot of ambition in this game. The scale of the shop was impressive. Where it fell short for me was feedback. I had no idea what anything was or whether i'd got something and generally spent most of my time feeling confused. I never got to the point where I felt I knew whether what I was doing was right or wrong. Some feedback would have gone a long way to resolving this. It has potential to be fun.

Thank you for your comment. Yeah I think I focused on the wrong parts when making this project. I tried making the shop look/feel good instead of focusing more on the UI/giving feedback to the player when things happen. I wanted to do some help on them, but by the time I finished my initially set goals I found myself with little time for change and decided to post what I currently have. Even thought my game lacked feedback, I thank you for yours :D

I think this is a pretty interesting concept, I would love to see like a HUD with the items you collected so far as I kept forgetting what I grabbed but overall it was really enjoyable and with a bit more work I reckon this can be really fun.

Developer

Thank you for your comment. Yeah by the time I got to UI and sound effects to give feedback to the player, I had ran out of time... I had other idea for changing the character and adding people that can bump into you to slow you down, but time was not on my side here. When I have free time I will try and rework this game a bit so I will have it on my itch page as a "what it could have been". But indeed a HUD that shows what you have collected should have been one of my primary focuses. Thanks for the feedback!

I made the baby happy!

Pretty funny backstory and use of sound effects. The mama bear sound effect had me laughing and the gameplay theme is straight out of an action scene, which is funny for a shopping game. The main menu theme actually had me jamming, it sounded like a Chick Corea was on the keys. Also great integrating the theme into the backstory of the game. Lost the first play through and thought I could win the second time by memorizing where the needed items were but the shopping list changed every run which made it more challenging. The "how to play" screen made it very clear how to play and the backstory made it clear what the objective was.

Nice jam submission.

Developer

Good job, I was hoping atleast one person would beat the game :D.

The sound effects were picked kind of rushed and I am not that happy with some of them, but I feel good that atleast you enjoyed them. I could have added more that give people feedback when certain things happen (as per other comments suggestions), so I might come back to this game and rework it when I have free time. The shopping lists were initially going to be fully random, but had to be made into 3 different ones that would get picked randomly for the sake of time (and cuz I might have had a few problems of figuring out the code). The wording of that how to play could have been a lot better aswell but for all in all I think it gives the players atleast some kind of an idea of how to play. I appreciate your feedback, thank you!
