Well this was weird :o A very bizarre idea that kind of actually works! The Carp DMs are hilarious, but I'll be honest - I had no idea what was going on about...1/3rd of the time. My 4k monitor probably messed up some scaling, but from my perspective the carp was above the camera's field of view (I'm seeing a big wall of dirt), then There's just water and I can't see where I am either. I've never seen a game anything like this, but the camera really messed up the experience for me. I don't mind weird controls - the game is supposed to be wacky, and the controls definitely help. Solid audio and visuals (the cover art is sick!)

Thank you so much for the feedback! It's really uplifting to hear you enjoyed the bizarreness of it. :D I'm really glad you appreciate the fitting wackiness of the controls!

As for the camera and display area, yeah, unfortunately I didn't manage to get everything scaling properly to different screen sizes in time for the end of the game jam. I'll try to get that fixed.

As far as I can tell, it works best right now if just played embedded in a browser window, but then the scaling gets messed up once you play it in fullscreen. I definitely need to do further testing. Thank you for letting me know how it went for you on a 4k monitor; that's helpful to know!

It was tough for me to get used to the controls, casting the fishhook to move around and hook onto the enemies is pretty cool! I like the style and the variety in the sounds too. Nice work!

Thank you so much!! Kooky worked really hard on the sound effects, I'm glad it got noticed!

Thank you so much!

I wanted the controls to feel like a bit of a struggle, but I also didn't want to make it too frustrating or intimidating, in case it turned players away. I would definitely like to try to explain the controls more clearly, maybe simplify them so they're easier to get used to, and possibly have an option to just make the fish more capable of getting around.

I'm so glad you liked the game, and the sounds too; I always enjoy trying to find sound effects that work well!

I really appreciate the pixel art style, love the use of the theme and the front cover is just amazing! For a first foray into pixel art style its very impressive, looking forward to seeing your next projects

Thank you so much!! :) It's really wonderful to hear such lovely feedback! I hope someday to be as good at pixel art as BittyBeastie, who did the art. I have passed along your kind words.

I was very impressed with your entry too--I'm looking forward to seeing your future games as well. Thank you for the follow!

Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to making my next projects.

Hi, I was the artist for this game! It was my first foray into pixel art, and art for games in general. It was a fun learning experience. If anyone has feedback on my artwork, I'd be happy to hear it!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, BittyBeastie here drew just about every sprite, tile, and graphic in the game. It was our first time working on a game together, and hopefully the first of many! Anybody feel free to give feedback on the art!

I couldn't stop playing this one. I had a lot of fun playing it. Music is OK, but does the job. Nice set up at the beginning. Really interesting take on the concept. And a very fun one also!

Developer(+1)

I'm so happy to hear you couldn't stop playing it! That's huge praise. :) I'm glad you liked the setup too--I like setting the scene at the beginning of an experience! Glad to hear you enjoyed it so much, thank you for playing!

This is such a good (and unexpected!) game! I had more fun playing this than I should have! Definitely one of my favourites so far.

If I could suggest something, that would be refining the controls? I know the feeling is supposed to represent a fish's struggle on land... But I could feel the struggle too xD

What I liked the most were the humans! They co-operated so efficiently it looked like they were controlled by a human! xD

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much!! That's really wonderful to hear!

Yes, I definitely see where you're coming from regarding the controls! I wanted to add an alternative control system with less fish struggles so that the player could at least start having some fun (important!) before deciding if they want more challenge, but unfortunately that was one thing I didn't have time to implement while I was trying to make sure that I had gotten everything working right. ๐Ÿ™ Definitely something for the future though!

Ah, I'm so glad you liked the human behaviour! I definitely don't have a team of humans all sitting around playing the game online simultaneously to control all the in-game characters. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜…

This is a game jam after all, it would be foolish to expect the games here to be 100% bug-free or perfect, in general! You and your team did a fantastic job! :D

Developer(+2)

Truuue! I'm always so self-conscious about my bugs. I'm like, "OH NO I PROMISE I WAS AWARE OF THIS BUG AND JUST COULDN'T FIX IT IN TIME; IT'S NOT MEANT TO BE LIKE THAT I PROMISE", but then that logic applies to everyone, so I guess it just goes without saying. xD Ahh, thank you so much, I'll tell my team! :D This is my first online game jam where I didn't work solo, and I'm really glad it went so well!

I'll check out your game (and the others) too and let you know how I get on! ๐Ÿ˜

Ahahah yeah I feel it too xD And yes, be proud of what you guys made because it rocks!

Thanks for checking I am Honk out xD (yes, there are bugs and other stuff I do not completely like but hey xD)

Well, I didn't expect to see a fish out of water being a game xD, certainly nailed the uniuqe idea xD. I personally found it a bit hard to control to fish, especially when tyring to navigate the jump sections, I often found the jumping would kill my motion at slower speeds. Otherwise a solid experience. Well Done!

Developer(+2)

Thank you very much for the feedback, and thank you for playing! :D The slightly clunky controls were actually intentional (to represent a fish's struggles on land), but I was trying to not to go overboard on making it too difficult to control, so as to balance the challenge with fun, and not turn players away too quickly.

I'll see what I can do to further refine the controls, and maybe I could add another control mode that's slightly more forgiving (maybe smoother rolls; faster acceleration; more predictable jumps).

Originally the jump sections were even harder, so I'm glad I already made them a bit easier!
