Nice game overall, good controls, easy to understand.

Character is getting stuck to the side of platforms, life refill during dream time would be nice, if enemies were killed when stomped it would give the game a better pace with a fight or flight situation.

Those are good ideas. Thanks for the feedback! :)

Pros

  • Movement felt very smooth and nice to control
  • Used colours effectively to communicate the difference between dream and nightmare
  • Score was easily visible and was a great source of motivation for me to keep playing
  • Good use of sound effects to indicate certain things to the player
  • The goal of the game, to get as far up as possible, was made evident through the score

Cons

  • Core mechanic, of switching between a dream and nightmare, was interesting but wasn't explored to its full potential
  • Not enough visual feedback - consider adding things like particle effects, screenshake or freeze frame for when being damaged by an enemy. Particle effects could also be used for things like jumping or dying
  • More visuals need to be used to represent certain ideas, like having a swing animation to indicate that an enemy is attacking
  • Gameplay is not expanded upon as you progress through the game. Consider adding different enemy types or mechanics as you progress to improve the interest curve, the difficulty should also increase as you progress

Great job, for a first jam game this is really good. I look forward to seeing your future games!

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I will definitely look into these points when I will make my second game jam game.

Really niec but it's a shame you can't regain health. It'd be interesting is the dream characters gave you health when you touch them.

Developer

True, but I feel like that would be overpowered. I did think about making it so that the dream characters occasionally drop hearts but I ended discarding that idea.

The squared characters are soooo nice and I love the way they move the eyes when they change direction :) Well done!

Developer

Thanks! I am a big fan of simplistic looking characters :D

Feels solid. It has the infamous wall-cling glitch. Jumping on enemies to avoid getting damaged is a cool mechanic.

Developer

True. I didn’t have enough time to fix it. Thanks for your feedback! :D

nice game, but it gets a bit tedious after some time.

Developer

True, if I had more time I could've made more interesting and less tedious. Thanks for your feedback! :D
