I enjoyed the nostalgia feel. I didn't get sucked into it to play past the first boss but it was interesting enough to try and I liked how you did boss mechanics with the tree having stomp waves.

I messed around gaining stats on humans & orcs until I reincarnated as an elf after a few deaths, then I just went and killed everyone from range with elf and killed the boss too all as first time elf with no deaths.

I think the elf is pretty overpowered simply because of the usage of range and AI not responding optimally to ranged attacks, also pretty easy to dodge boss wave if you were shooting from max range.

I'd add an icon for each ability on screen, to remind and encourage ability use. I finished the tree boss with arrows and then remembered I hadn't tried using abilities. xD

Fun enough game, good job on the jam! :)

This is one of my personal favorites among the ones I've played and rated! I really like the concept - each kind of character you can respawn as is really unique and changes your playstyle significantly. I like that sense of adventure as well, and the visuals are great. The furthest I reached was the first boss that I had encountered, which happened to be a sentient tree that spawns a bunch of enemy characters at some point (that's where I ended up dying XD).

The main issue I had was that the AI-controlled characters tended to be a bit too quick, which introduced a kind of "unfair" difficulty in that it's difficult to avoid taking damage, unless you play as the elf and you evade everything perfectly. Even as the elf, the human can catch up to me while I'm rolling, which I don't think should be the case.

Other than that, I enjoyed playing this. Great stuff!

Solid entry! I really like the pixel art work you all did, it was really well done. I loved the idea of being reborn into a different class. And the class you played as last is now your enemy. I see potential for a really cool story. I do think that the archer seemed like the ideal, strongest class though. It didn't seem fun playing as the other two because I got farthest with the archer. Great game.

Unforutnately I couldn't even beat the first boss. My main problem here was the browser. While dodging with the elve he constantly tried to set bookmarks and one time he must lost the focus. Which is bad because pressing ctrl+w closes the tab (not your fault - I just have to complain about the browser!)

Overall a pretty nice game. Very nice implementation of the theme and I like that you become reborn as a random character with different abbilities.

But it felt kind of unfair that a boss attack can deal multiple times damage to you. So when caught in the wave it has eaten up all my hearts except for one.

Really good work. Added it to my collection - may one day I will also see the other bosses two (depenending on how my browser will behave...)

Thanks for playing!
Good point with the Crtl+W binding, we never thought about that.

If you have you could play with a gamepad. It should working with all gamepads. If you have windows, you could also download the game. The downloadable version is also working a little bit better, cause of some resolution problems in the browser version.

Really cool concept and well-executed. Switching characters is really nice and the different abilities made it a lot of fun, especially the Elves dodge! Nice job :)
