This Game is so fun I love the game and how there are upgrades sad that no one was on leaderboard

9.99/10

Developer

Yeah I was dissapointed when I realized the leaderboard doesn't work. Thanks for playing, and besides that I'm glad you like it!

When I finished maxing everything out, and reached level 50, I decided the game was finished, so I'll let myself die in level 51. I didn't manage to die lol
I'm not sure if it's a bug only I got, but I the enemies just deal me a few damage point and then... it goes up again and stay full
I was about to comment the game was maybe too easy, since I long as I was mooving enemies dealt me no damage, but it's maybe just me.
That put aside, good game, really!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yes I know exactly what you're talking about with the health being weird. I tried getting it to work properly for a few days but was running out of time. I'm thinking if you upgrade your health enough then the enemies do less damage then whatever is "rehealing" the player. Happy you enjoyed it and thank you for the feedback!

Great game I was sad when I finished it and went to rthe leaderboard but my score was not there (no one elses was either). I quickly figured out it was more important to pickup points then kill more.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I'm sorry to hear about that, I was wondering if the leaderboard was just a problem on my side or if something was wrong with the game. I definitely plan to fix this when the jam is over.

Nice survivor game!
It is already enjoyable, well designed, but I think it has potential.

Your run-of-the-mill bullet hell. It works! The style is good and simplified. Funnily enough, we also toyed around with the title 'Francium Frank'. :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Frank really is just the perfect name for a Francium character lol

I have passed 15 levels. After reading your description, I understand why each level is 22 seconds. A great idea, but problematic to play, as players only have to dodge to complete the level. Wouldn't it be more urgent if you changed it to defeating a specified number of enemies?

In addition, if you defeat the enemy and you don’t have time to pick up the gold coins before you move to the next level, it’s better to add them directly to the player.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

While you’re right that players can just dodge enemies to pass the round, the goal is to collect as many points as possible. The reason for the sort round time (outside of Francium’s half-life) is to encourage players to move around quickly and collect as many points as they can to buy new upgrades and increase their score for the leaderboard.

As for how points are collected, I originally had the points add directly to the player as you described. However, this would allow the player to just sit in one spot the whole round and fire at enemies. I found this to be a bit boring. So, I made it so the enemies dropped points the player would have to collect. This forces the player to move around, which adds to the challenge and I found it made the game more enjoyable.

Hope this explains some of my thinking, thank you for playing :D

Interesting game, the game really started to get good at the end. I did not know what some perks did like "monster points" or "luck".  Great music choice.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I just added a small section to the game description explaining the different power-ups, thank you so much for the feedback :)

THIS IS SO COOL, it's a really fun and a unique way to use the theme!

For one of your first games using gdevelop, this is already great!
