man that sound and art is great. Game would have fit mobile controles.
Nicely done specialy for a first game
Nice game. I found the way the enemies overlapped each other annoying. Also can I fail? Rate mine if you have the opportunity.
Impressive work on the audio. The overall atmosphere works really well. Congrats !
Just my cup of tea, I like these kinds of horde survivals. Narration was superb and I liked the Alan Wake style writing :) Cheers from Finland!
The voice actor also mentioned that it reminded him of Alan wake. I haven't played those games but if I accidentally make something similar to a game series that well known, it's gotta be a good thing :P
Cheers from Norway!
The audio is incredible, from voice acting to the sound effects. Really good art and animations. The three weapons are well differentiated, but I agree with JJGamez64 that the gameplay need a bit more juiciness. Also, nice twist at the end. Great work!
Ayyyy, glad you liked the audio. We put a ton of work into it. Increasingly distorted music, complementing sound effects for each story segment, increased intensity in the voice reads as the game progresses. Lots of planning and I think it paid off, so I am always happy when people appreciate it!
And wooo! You are the first to mention the twist, which I was also hyped about :P Maybe it's a little subtle for some, but I am glad someone noticed at least.
Great game! The presentation and voice acting is TOP NOTCH. Having three weapon types to chose from was super cool too. I will say however, the gameplay would have largely benefitted from more juice. Keep up the great work!
Wow, that was great!
I've always wanted to exorcise ghosts with a shotgun.
The voice acting was amazing and the writing in this gave me chills and excited me at the same time.
I loved the narrative all the way through and when the level vignettes became even more distorted it definitely immersed me.
I look forward to your future work.
Visuals and music both got more and more distorted :D Gotta get those details in.
A shotgun is a crazy person's best friend.
what a beautiful narrative experience. well done! One of my favorites.
Glad you liked it!
Nice game and well done ! also check out mine ! 😉
Wow, that was a scary and intense game. I was running for my life and shooting at enemies that were getting close to me. Eventually when I got to the last level, I was fighting for my life and killing as many enemies as possible until I died. And then..., what? I'm actually not dead?
Anyways, I loved the voice acting, the music, and the gun firing and reloading animation for this game. It's a very solid entry to the jam.
Thank you so much for the kind feedback. No, you aren't actually dead. The player character is not of stable mind and was seeing illusions and talking to himself the whole time. Maybe connected to the mushrooms in the field at the end?
Great voice acting. Players don't seem to die? I deliberately let the monster catch me in the second level, but I never died.
Heh, it's intentional that you can't die before the last wave. The goal of the game was to convey a story that implied these things weren't really happening, but were rather the visions of a mentally unstable man who was narrating his own delusions. As such, it would make no real sense to have the player die to ghosts, hence the ending.
You could consider the game a virtual bad trip, if you like. He is surrounded by mushrooms and flowers at the end after all :P
So that's how it is. This is also a special design idea.
Nice work!
