I made it to the wormwhole!

Developer

Yay! Glad you've had fun :)

Nice idea, I didn't get very far, the one-hit kill was very unforgiving and no checkpoints either. I liked the planet sprites, but could have done with star background or something to help give some idea of how you are moving. Otherwise great job for a one-person team!

Developer(+1)

A star background would have been great - and you're right, it would have helped players relate where their rocket is as they fly through space. The one hit and you're out mechanic isn't the most forgiving, I'll think about how to implement lives in future projects. Thank you for playing and giving feedback :)

Nice game, a littlebit hard with just one hit!

Developer

That's a good point about the one hit and restart, a few people have been saying similar things about this. Thank you for playing my game and giving me feedback :)

Simple little game and concept but works, well done. One tip for Unity with your particles if you set them to be in world space instead of local space when the player moves the rocket the particles wont follow and will look more realistic and probably what you are going for.

Developer

Thank you for bringing this up - I was having some issues with how the particles were attached to the rocket object and just couldn't get it quite right so went with it as is in the end due to time limitations.

Excellent Game with the thruster mechanics. Nice graphics and a subtle particle effect from the afterburner. Nice Aesthetics and Excellent gameplay. Keep up the good work :)

Developer

Thank you, I'm happy to hear you had fun playing my game!

Hey!

Great job on your second game submission to itch.io, it's a great feat to have! The game had a fun concept but I thought it was a bit difficult with the one life mechanic. I wasn't sure what the theme implementation was, but maybe you were going for the "last life"? The aesthetics could use some work, especially the particle system that was a child of the game object (there's a setting you can do where the particles that are spawned don't follow the transforms position, it would make it look more natural :) I think adding some music and sounds would go a long way for your game! The (what felt like) physics based movement was neat because it didn't let me instantly turn around which added some strategy to the game. I didn't see any story mechanics implemented. Great job overall, with a bit more polish, This could be a neat space shooter/dodge bullets meteors infinite runner!

Developer

Thank you for giving really detailed feedback! The thinking was that if your rocket gets hit my a meteorite that's it, game over. But games don't always follow the real world exactly, so I'll keep in mind things can be done differently if it enhances gameplay. The particle system following needs some more work for sure, but it was fun to finally put particles in a game. Glad you liked the way the rocket moves, that's a big part of gameplay! :)
