Awesome start! Loved the aesthetics and the mechanics, I understand it's a WIP but in general it looks awesome, I really hope you keep working on it, looking forward on seeing how it turns out!
It's a good start. Looking forward to seeing what else you guys do with it.
What I liked
I liked the cutscene at the end, that was a surprise.
Nice graphics, definitely made my 2080TI sweat a bit in rendering everything.
The assets seem well but together and thematically go together.
What could be improved upon:
I felt like there was no feedback when I was hitting enemies or when I was getting hit. I was just watching health bars the entire time instead of enjoying the environment or combat.
There is no way to quit the game except for ALT-F4.
Whoa. This is a PRETTY looking game. These assets are amazing and are brought together to make a really beautiful environment. I did get some weird camera clipping issues where suddenly I couldn't see my character as the camera was on the other side of some wall. Definitely a game to build off of.
Hi Tangential Cold Studios,
I'm glad you like it. I am aware of the Camera Clipping issue. It is on our priority list. We'll update via Developer Logs. Keep in touch for more content.
Cool to see a different project using Unreal assets.
Nice to see you got basic combat working - well done!
I especially like the ending cutscene with music, which gave a cool vibe!
Great job creating and submitting a game!
Hi iCameron,
Glad you like our game. We'll update and fix the game after this jam and add more content when possible.
It has potential if you ever want to turn it into a full game, but I have to be honest and say that it seems overscoped for a game jam.
Hi Black Boar Software,
Glad you like our game. We'll update and fix the game after this jam and add more content when possible. We want to make it into a full game driven by community feedback. We'll keep updating you via Dev logs about future updates.
This game looks and sounds amazing. I was stunned by how much this game looked like a triple-A title, especially in that short amount of time, and to be honest I was a little bit intimidated by it. Good job!
Like many others have said, this game has a lot of potential and is really ambitious and I look forward to future updates.
Also, I'm positive that you are allowed to flesh out the attack and dodge mechanic as a bugfix. But if you are unsure, you can just go to the GameDev.tv Discord and ask Zesix personally about it, he usually replies pretty fast.
Either way, great work so far, keep it up and I will be looking forward to the next update :)
Hi Jzagorac.
Your kind words fill me with joy. 😊
Your comparison of our game with a AAA title and the overall reception of this submission have us excited to further develop and polish this game. We'll keep updating you guys with Developer Logs.
We wish to ship a product backed by the community. :)
Really ambitious game. I had some problems with fps in "High" even if i have a 2080TI, probably the assets have a lot of poly, you can try with world partition or nanite in Unreal. Anyway really nice game i'm looking forward to try it after you release new content!
Hi LS Dregon,
Thank you for your kind words. Though we have used nanites, we'll look into the FPS problem you stated. Work is still under development and new content will be surely released after the reviewing process will be done.
This is super ambitious for a game jam game. Congrats for submitting your final game!
The graphics and world look gorgeous, however, the rest of it didn't really click for me. There is minimal player feedback on dealing or taking damage, making it really hard to learn how to best use the combat. Adding some more care to the camera would go a long way, too. Currently, there's too much blur when swinging the camera around to try to fight guys.
I also bugged it out. I think I was able to continue swinging my sword after I died versus a boss and so I got both endings back to back, but died immediately upon starting the next run.
Pretty cool, but lowering your scope instead of trying to build a foundation for a full game might server you better for learning. This is a big project you're proposing. Start smaller and learn your way up to something big like this!
Hi CFHM.
Thanks for the feedback. I too feel the project went too big too fast. We'll fix the bugs mentioned by you and others after the Jam review period has ended. Polishing the player feedback, Camera rework and tweaking the AI is on our priority list. We'll keep you updated via the Developer Logs. All feedback is welcome. I hope the next update will click for you. :)
I enjoyed it. The AI is responsive. I think some delay in combat attacks would do some good. Over all the effort is definitely there and I think the use of Paragon assets was smart. I am sad Sevarog did not make an appearance.
Hi ChanchoDev.
Glad you liked our submission. We'll be working on the game based on accumulated feedback once the review period has passed.
PS, We just wanted to tease Sevaraog as a cliffhanger in case people liked our game. Apparently, the reception is good enough to motivate us to work further on this game. We'll push more features, fixes and content as possible. :)
I just finished it and it definitely has a lot of potential if you put the work into it. Looks stunning visually, but would've been nice to have the option to turn off motion blur. Needs some enemy feedback as well when hitting. Keep at it! :)
Hi znerbackwards,
It's good to know that you liked the game. We'll work on the feedback for sure and add more features and content in the future along with the fixes requested.
Follow the game/page for more updates. 😊
Looks magnificent, the first thing I'd do though is add some resistance to the sword when you hit something with it, some hit sounds, particle effects, slow the velocity etc, but yeh this feels like you are on the way to something awesome.
Hi Marcus. Thanks for the feedback. I am happy to know that you like the game and see some potential in it.
We are working to improve and add more features and polish to the game in parallel. We'll upload builds once the time to review games is passed for this jam. (Don't want to violate any rules :) ).
Looking forward to making a great experience for the community, driven by feedback.
it is really a beginning , great work we will wait for some more action
Hi, neonoxxx.
We are working to update this game, add features and fix bugs. We will update the build after the last date for reviewing Jam Entry is passed as we don't want to violate any Jam rules. :)
Glad you like it. :D
Great work on the use of assets and environment, looking forward to see more from you guys !
Hi, we are glad that you liked our submission. We are also excited to work further on this game and improve it with the help of community feedback.
Hi there! I left a few comments about the game in the community page, but I have a "warning" to give you about the source code.
When I try to open the project, it says that I need to install the "assets cleaner" plugin, which is a paid asset. You may want to have a look and get it removed :D.
Hi. Thanks for the kind feedback. We have removed the asset cleaner plugin from the source code. It was added just to check if we have extra unreferenced assets but somehow forgot to remove it among the last-minute chaos. Original Build is intact as this was not a game feature :)
