This was fun! Nice to see another 2D/3D art game. The procedural generation is very cool and although the gameplay is simple, it was enjoyable scaling the tower. Best score I've got so far is 1040, I encountered some evil ducks and got destroyed haha. Only nitpicks I have really is that I found it a little tough to fit into 1 block openings and sometimes the interaction on the tops of ladders felt a little clingy. The art style is simple, but I like it! It's also cool to see a game created with rust. Nice work!
Thank you for your feedback :D
It seems that collision detection is a slight issue so that is probably something I'm going to fix sometime.
Anyway, thanks for playing my game :)
This is so cool, especially being only 1mb and written in rust. I don't understand much about rust but it seems like you went for pretty low-level crates rather than a more fully fledged game engine like Bevy, is that more for learning?
I would like it if WASD was an option as well, and also the collisions get in the way of movement/jumping a little which took some getting used to. The graphics are charming and the parallax effect is nice. Really nice job, well done :)
Thanks for playing!
I would actually like to use Bevy at some point for a project but I'm not entirely sure what I would do and I would also need to learn a decent bit about Bevy to make a project. I am actually fairly comfortable working with OpenGL in C++ which is why I just decided to use a OpenGL crate as one of the dependencies for my game.
Also, thanks for your feedback! :D
Neat little roguelike! The art is very simple but I really like it. I wish there was some music as it would make the game feel a bit better and it would also make the sound effects a little less jarring. Adding WASD would be great too as I found moving with my right hand and attacking with my left was an awkward feeling. But overall you did a great job and its a solid entry!
Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed my game :)
A cool and refreshing experience. The procedural tower ensures a frustration-free journey, and the basic enemies add a nice touch without overwhelming the player. However, the collecting of treasure seems a bit off. Some constructive feedback: consider tweaking the rewards to make the treasure more meaningful, providing players with a stronger incentive to explore (health or arrows to buy). Excited to see how this already impressive game evolves with the tweaks!
Thank you for the feedback! I hope you enjoyed the game and I might update this game in the future, a shop would be interesting and I do agree that there probably should be more incentive for picking up treasure.
Anyway, thank you again for playing :)
Really liked the 3d environment combined with 2d sprites, SFX was nice too. Impressed that you had enough time to add a highscore system. Not sure if you’re generating them or putting them together from predesigned segments, but the levels felt really good either way.
Spikes felt a bit too punishing. Maybe they could take 2 hearts off instead of being immediately fatal. The player could be a bit smaller to make fitting into 1-block wide openings easier. Also, the UI was a bit small on my (larger-than-average) screen.
These issues were all minor though and I still had a great time playing your game!
Thank you for your feedback! (I do feel that fitting into a 1 block wide opening was rather difficult) The levels are put together from predesigned segments to answer your question on how level generation.
Anyway, thanks for playing my game :)
I love playing as a little knight guy while I climb the tower. I was confused about the whole two weapon situation as to why I'd ever use anything but the bow, then I ran out of arrows. Couldn't find anymore for all the gold in the world. To anyone else playing: Beware the murder chickens. The controls were really tight and intuitive, but you've gotta have mercy with those 1x1 openings because unless your jump is absolutely perfect, you can't make that slot.
Thanks for playing, I do believe that I should have designed the collision a little better (it is admittedly quite annoying to jump into the 1 x 1 holes) and I do believe that arrows do occasionally spawn in the tower but I might have made them a little too uncommon.
Anyway, thank you for playing and giving your feedback :D
