Simple concept but it is easy to understand the theme in the game. I also love the music here - slow but full of energy, pretty fit for the turtle climb in my opinion.

Simple concept, but executed pretty well. I imagine this would be very liked by Jump King enthusiasts. With another round of polish, I could see this being a nice little game!

Neat! Simple concept yet very enjoyable! I really like the mechanic of jumping and grabbing! The artstyle is quite simple but it does its job , I just don't get why it is a turtle climbing :D hilarious!

The gameplay is awesome, the music was also good, this game gives me the "Getting Over It" vibes where the frustration comes in when you fall to the bottom from very high up.

A very challenging game, good mechanic :) I would especially like to mention the music, great theme!

This is an interesting one for sure.  Nice job on it.  I got to about 1300 but that bounce off the wall jump - doing that several times where instead of bouncing that poor tort just splats and falls just did me in after about 3 minutes of that, lol. It's fun though, Great work.

Developer

Yeah the wall bounce ended up less reliable than i hoped it to be, there is a proper range of angles that will always work, but i understand if it got too annoying before you get to figure that out. Thanks for playing and leaving a comment :)

The interaction on how to climb and the short time to react is something I have never seen before, well done!

I found it very frustraing though, often I wasnt able to catch the one I was aiming at and just launched myself back to zero. This is generally fine, its okay if its meant to be hard, but maybe you could have some more "checkpoints", just platforms that catch you if miss, but then again maybe you did and I just didnt get that far xD

that's super fair criticism and something i noticed myself too, just didn't really get to retouch a lot of the earliest level design.

Really the only safe-ish area is right after you climb up the mountain, and even then there is definitely a possibility to fall back to the very beginning. Hope the frustration gave you some enjoyment anyway since it is indeed part of the point of the game :)

Yeah, we didn't have enough time for balancing as well, so I totally get that

Don't worry, I enjoyed playing it anyway

really liked the game,  although I couldn't play it with my 60% keyboard and had to grab my coding full keyboard. It might be a useful thing to add mapping for "A" and "D" in case people are playing in arrowless keyboards. Loved the sound effects and artwork though, and the game was a lot of fun!

I gave up at 1300. I think we should release the key to jump. Jumping bar could go up and down for this. The reason is it was very hard to both jump, change directions and catch something.

Developer

1300 is pretty good honestly, the fact that you autojump when the bar is full is indeed purely for difficulty reasons, since most jumps don't really require a lot of direction changes.

I hope you at least enjoyed it a bit through the frustration. There is a little bit of a hack you can do to keep hanging on though, and that is by tapping the jump button, you can release and grab the same anchor point without ever leaving it :)

Thanks for the comment and feedback

Extra steps is not always a bad thing given it's an arcade game, also the level of commitment is different in the two scenarios and the point of the game is to be a precision based experience.

Very cute game. I found the timing quite hard catching the thingies sometimes. :D

Developer

Thanks, i'm glad you enjoyed it, it is indeed meant to be a little bit frustrating, I only hope it wasn't too much. It's kind of hard to judge the difficulty being almost a lone playtester and getting way to used to the game... ;)

Submitted

Yeah, I totally know what you mean. Really hard to judge after working on it for a while.

a fun simple game. easy to learn, Hard to master. Great job!

Developer

This game is really fun and can be a bit frustrating at times. It's addictive, and you always want to give it another shot to beat your high score! I can´t find the scaling task, but overall, it's a fun game

they used the "to climb" definition of scaling

Developer

Thank you so much, this is basically everything i was aiming for, so i'm really happy it clicked for you :D

And as another reply said, I used the climbing definition of scale for inspiration.
