I also got a The Binding Of Isaac vibe from this. It needs a bit of polish and balancing (the power up increasing more easily, for example, especially in the beginning of the game to give people a chance to try it out) but it's a great game, especially for someone who's just started out in game dev, and I had fun. I play with the arrow keys so it would have helped to have had a reload key nearby (maybe the Shift key?). I hope you'll keep working on this.

Thanks for the feedback on powerups. I agree, it should increase more easily especially at the beginning of the game. I'll work on it and add the shift key reload too. Glad that you have fun :)

Hey, this game is pretty cool, even though I only had background music and no sound effects for some reason - it took away a bit of the fun of the shooting, but, hey, lots of blood, I like.

I love this! Always a fan of top-down shooters, and enjoyed the Binding of Isaac vibes I got from this. Was so close to beating the final boss but managed to mess up at the last second - I'll be trying again once ratings open though

The core gameplay loop was great, felt extremely responsive and very well thought out in execution. The controls felt precise and I felt when I messed up it was always my own fault. Particularly when the ranged enemies are introduced later on I really had to ensure I prioritised my targets and lined up clear shots to avoid taking any unnecessary damage.

The choice of powerups was great, and I liked having to choose between restoring health or improving stats, which was a tricky decision as each run progressed. I tended to go with movement and reload speed, and thought that the progression for each was very nicely set.

There was a nice juicy feel to the game with the blood splatters and particle effects when running, and the sfx were well chosen. The sound when you hit the boss really reminded me of the N-Gin fight from Crash 3 for some reason?

If you were to work on this game any further, I'd love to see more enemy types, and the suggestion from Germanp of adding a little screen shake for that little bit of extra juice

Looking forward to seeing what you do next!

Wow. you have no idea how happy I am to see this comment. You stated all the things that I am proud of about this game!

I use RayCast for shooting so that it hits the target right away. All the enemies (for now) die from a single hit, so you either one shot one kill or you miss entirely. There's no firing speed so you can be as fast as you want as long as you hit them. I love what you said about feeling like it's your fault when you messed up, hopefully it's from the hit or miss thing.

Glad that you enjoyed the powerups and health system. I tried to make each one as balanced as possible. clip size upgrade is my favourite, if you ever play it again, I recommend trying it.

you even noticed the running particles XD. Players generally take small things for granted, only when you make a game will you know to appreciate it. thanks.  And it's good to know that hours spent on finding the right sounds was worth it :P

Thank you for playing the game and leaving a comment.

Good idea. I'll try it

Quite nice game, I got to level four.
Several times, the enemies spawned quite close to me (almost on top), maybe there should be a small radius where they don't spawn?
Also I expected the blood to slowly fade, the red color in the end is quite intense!

Looking forward to playing it again after the rating opens =)

Hmm, weird. I thought that I already replied. Thanks for the feedback, I stopped enemies from spawning too close and I enjoyed it a lot more ! Blood still doesn't fade though. will work on it soon.
