I had to use continuous locomotion (jogging locomotion didn't quite feel reliable), but it worked very smoothly and I didn't personally have any issues with nausea. Nothing ever felt very threatening, but the environment was nicely filled out and expansive, and the final outdoor area was very pleasant (until I fell off). All in all an enjoyable experience!

I finally got this working on my Quest2, and it was worth the effort. The environment really gives me a proper dungeon crawler feel, and there is a lot of content there. The audio is real nice too.

Sadly I don't understand how to use the jog locomotion. It doesn't matter though. The rules state that the game must be grid based. I also got quite motion sick after a running around for a while using the smooth locomotion.

I can really see that you guys have put a lot of effort into the environment and functionality. I only wish you followed the rules for the locomotion, because I think this could've been a fun crawl.

Could not load onto my Oculus, though I didn't try SideQuest. Is there a trick to it?

Developer

Indeed it requires an app like "sidequest".
Yet I just published the game on sidequest store here the link
https://sidequestvr.com/app/5944/dungeonescape
you can easily load with one click

A nice game with a novel move mechanic! Unfortunately it did make me a little nauseous even with swinging my arms. I liked the graphics and the sound. I couldn't find a way to make work as a gridder though? was there an option for that which I missed?

Glad you liked locomotion system somehow ! It should take some time to adapt to "Jogging Move".

But I didn't implemented grid  teleportation as an option.

That was a requirement of the jam unfortunately :(

  • The game world must be grid based. Player may move freely within a grid cell (defined play area) but movement to adjacent grid cell must be done through teleportation or instant step on button press. Smooth automatic transition between grid cells is allowed but strongly discouraged (See section about Locomotion). Half-steps or dividing the grid cell into smaller cells is not accepted.
