My feedback for Sick Day:
What your game does well:
The game makes use of tower-defense elements to execute the theme in a fun way.
The controls are easy to learn, and the UI gives the player all the necessary information they need in order to make strategic placements of the white blood cells.
What your game doesn't do well:
It might just be me, but the game struggles with balance and variety. I got really far with just using the 35-cost gunners. I also didn't understand the brawl cell if it can't move past the bounds of the mitochondrion.
Although the pathogens look different, they are pretty much the same enemy with varying health.
Areas of Opportunity:
I would find ways to give the player a more compelling reason to place down other units. Perhaps you could make it so that different white blood cells can deal more damage to certain pathogens?
I hope this feedback helps!
Really cool game! The art and design were amazing. Nice submission!
Thank you so much!
This was fun to play! The animations are solid! Something I think would help though would be longer breaks between waves so the player has moments where they can prepare better for the next one.
I'll keep that in mind! Longer breaks would definitely help in the late game. Thanks for playing!
Sick Game! a bit overwhelming without the exploit. But well, it's a game jam. Good Work!
It definitely needs some balancing changes, but thanks for playing!
FOR ANYONE INTERESTED!
I have made some updates to the game that I believe make it much better to play! Go check it out on the second itch page. It even has a Windows build for download! Enjoy!
A really fun game. Good Job! Unfortunately I always get "WebGL context lost, please reload the page" and I still hear the sound but my screen is grey. Do you know why this happens?
Thank you for playing the game! Unfortunately, I’m not sure why these “WebGL context lost” errors are happening. However, since this has been happening to most people, I made a separate itch page that contains a downloadable windows build for people to play without getting those errors. Hope this helps and thanks again!
Btw the second itch page now includes a better version of the game if you're interested :)
holy crap an actually fun and complete game
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Good Game!
Thank you!
Art design is great! I believe I found an exploit, as every unit sell for more than what it originally costs, I tried not using it but there was a point I got overwhelmed, and I just bought snipers and sold them immediately to get lots of points lol
Funny you mention that, my friend was play testing the game just today and found the same exploit lol! Surprised I didn't notice that when play testing it myself, but I am really glad that you enjoyed it. Thanks for playing!
Fun game! There were a lot of human body themes in the jam, but making your game a tower defense game fit the immune system idea very well!
Haha yea I also noticed the abundance of human body themes in the submissions. I’m glad you thought the game was unique enough to try it out. Thanks a lot for playing!
Very fun game! It felt a bit unbalanced at the start because I bought a brawl cell at the start and that didn't cover a big enough area to have an impact in the early game. But other than that a very well made tower defence. Though, I would have loved some more feedback when popping away the genomes like particles.
Thanks so much for playing! Balancing was certainly the most time consuming endeavor and it's certainly not perfect. I will take your feedback into account. Thanks again!
I got an error message while playing your game. But other than that, I enjoyed playing Sick Day.
Hey, thanks for playing the game! If you ever want to play again, I recently made a new itch.io page so that people can download it on Windows and play the exe file directly for a better gaming experience (it shouldn't crash as much). Feel free to give it a try. Thanks again!
Something is wrong. I cant play it
I'm sorry to hear that! I just made a separate page with a windows build, which might provide a better experience. Here is the link to the itch.io page. Just scroll to the bottom to download it. Thank you for your feedback!
Naaaah I just played it the right way (my bad, it was my mistake by not reading the instructions). Pretty addictive! I made it to the 10th wave and I swear I could've made it to 50 but the WebGL crashed big time. I don't think it's your issue, though, I guess my memory ran out of space. Anyway I will give it another try.
Cool entry! Congrats.
Thanks a lot for giving it a second try! I am glad you enjoyed it. It's a shame that WebGL keeps crashing though (it happened to me also). I'll try and look into that. Thanks again!
Would you upload a windows version? This is the first time I try a defense tower game and it's pretty addictive, I want to finish it.
You are in luck! I just made a new itch.io page that contains the Windows version for download. I couldn't update this page during the review period so that's why I made it separate. Here's hoping you make it to round 50!
The visuals are great, but having 4 pathways and high tower costs made the gameplay feel a bit frustrating.
Thank you for playing! I will take your feedback into account.
I'm trying to drag and drop Rifle and Brawl cells but it seems it's not working? I can't drop them. Am I doing something wrong?
Hey, thanks for trying my game! Try dragging the cell onto the four rotating pink islands. These islands are the only eligible spots for the cells. The cell icon you are dragging won't be tinted red on a valid spot. Hope this helps!
