Overall: It seemed a bit too easy. Going off of the chart in the beginning, the optimal strategy is Bear head, Alligator body, alligator legs. Why would I ever create anything else?

Fun: I never got that into the age of war style games. It's slow, and the gameplay consists mostly of watching things happen.

Innovation: I like the addition of combining creatures, but as stated, Bear-Gator-Gator is the only one I created, due to the stats being optimal according to the chart. Perhaps not letting the player know the exact numbers would be in your favor. It forces the player to experiment.

Theme: Again with my comments on innovation, I like the combining element, but I really didn't play around with it.

Graphics: I love the artwork, and the goofy enemies looked great. The background was really cool too!

Mood: This ties in with how cool the background was. The cool night time colors set the scene for some fun witchcraft/necromancy. Good stuff!

Audio: The music seemed strangely compressed. It reminds me of old flash games, and maybe that's what you were going for? I personally wasn't a huge fan though.

Humor: The combos looked funny, and I like it.

Final Thoughts: I think you shouldn't let the players see the stats, and maybe force them to experiment by making it so they can't make the same creature two times in a row. It would certainly force variety and playing around more with the combo mechanic. Great game!

Thanks for the feedback! Currently, the active development of this game is underway. We added cooldown and now you can't use an alligator for example 2 times in a row.  About experiments, you are absolutely right, combos are about experiments! We will try to add something that will make the player experiment, and not sit on the alligator\bear\alligator combination.

If you expand the game and add a store, (there will be no loot boxes there! Honestly! And donat will not affect the game)  then how not to show the player what he buys? Although this pushes the player to do experiments =)   You've given me something to think about.

This was an interesting and unique idea!

It didn't seem like chosing the animal parts mattered that much though in the end.

And I won without even realizing what I was doing lol

Thanks for the feedback and for the video review! I looked at it and noticed some problems that I (the programmer) I didn't notice it at the testing stage. As soon as the voting is over, I will post a version with more intuitive training, improved balance and clear camera movement. P.S. I really liked your reaction to the victory =)

So much potential!

 Positives:

  • The used assets are good
  • Your game as music
  • The idea is amazing and I'm jealous that I didn't think of it myself

Things that should be improved:

  • I don't think this game is beatable - the enemy base pumps out troops much faster. This could be fixed by:
    • Decreasing the enemies spawning abilities
    • Increasing the about of biomass production
    • Decreasing the price of parts
  • Need more feedback from the things happening: troop health bars, damage indicators, biomass gain messages for when you gain mass from enemies or passively
  • The body parts don't match up sometimes - the legs are detached from the body

Things that could be fixed:

  • Music doesn't loop in a level
  • Some of the body parts render over the castle, some under
  • Enemies sometimes don't have heads - I'm guessing the wolf head is broken for the enemy troop
  • Crocodile feet are faster than wolf feet - should be the opposite based on logic

Other improvements:

  • More options for troops
  • Add the stats to the in-game shop on hover

It would be very cool if some of these things would be added after the game jam because this could be a very cool game that could be built upon with more and more content.

Thanks for the answer! Many thanks for the detailed analysis of the game. I have fixed most of the above errors. Your message will greatly help the development of the game! I will definitely study the balance problem in more detail. If you have a wish, you can create one by writing to me in Discord Roman-nc#6533

Thanks for the feedback! We are glad that you liked our crossing mechanics! We see that we like our game and will develop it and add new levels

I really like the idea of combining the creatures but I think it laks of feedback, for example adding particles when a creature attacks another, and maybe try to do a tutorial introduction in game and not with a lot of text, but overall nice game for the jam!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! The particle system was in the early stages of the game, but later we thought it would be a bit cruel (there were blood particles), if there is another particle idea, let us know. We didn't have time to do full-fledged training) The game will evolve and over time we will add it

Took me a lot of time to understand how to scroll the screen xD
It's a bit weird that choosing the wolf is never optimal? But I guess the cooldowns can make it worth it sometimes?

The concept of fusing animals together made me laugh x) good take on the theme!

Overall the game probably lacks a bit of balancing, like everything is very slow.

Developer(+2)

Thanks for the feedback! We are glad that the game was able to evoke emotions in you. We will definitely add movement due to the arrows. We didn't have time to calibrate the wolf and we will solve this problem in the near future.
