Good but stressful game.

Positives:

  • Love the 3d models and the colors
  • Like the jazzy music
  • Like the idea
  • The acronym is clever

Things to improve:

  • Controls are meh: I don't like arrow keeps, but besides that, the "i" button is far away from the action buttons making it hard to switch fingers. Maybe change it to "wasd"+"ijkl" or "arrow keys"+"ijkl", instead of "arrow keys"+"zxc and i". This would also make jumping more usable.
  • Not enough time to make ink, bc there are 3 tasks that need to be done and one is usually already red before you noticed its existence. Maybe increase the grace period for the tasks, lower the inking time or decrease the task appearance rate for the first minute or 3.
  • The theme is a bit weak, bc you aren't comboing much, but the title is amazing so forget I said anything.

Positives:

  • I like the character sprite
  • The control layout is interesting

Things that should be changed:

  • When the game starts there are 3-4 enemies that spawn in 0.5 seconds.  These enemies reach me in a second after spawning. In my 5-7 tries I haven't been able to shoot more than 1 projectile. This means it's impossible to play the game longer than 2 seconds.
  • When you lose, the game closes. I know of this indie game "trick", but it's usually used when you win and are too lazy to add a win screen. By making this happen on death and making the game quite hard, it makes retrying more annoying. Should have just restarted the level.
  • Didn't understand the controls, but thank you for adding a comment.
  • The menu title is stretched :)

Can't comment on gameplay and mechanics, bc I can't get service for 3 seconds.  But I understand that you didn't have much time left to fix anything. Maybe after the jam, update your game and then I'll play it fully. :)

Good game:

Positives:

  • Sprites look good
  • The SFX are great (when I try to make my own, they sound annoying, but yours sound pleasant)
  • Game player is simple and fun
  • Love the trail of enemy guts that I leave behind
  • DUEL WIELDING!

Things that could be improved:

  • The pink blood is too saturated and starts hurting the player's eyes after 5 min of killing. You could lower the saturation of the sprite (bring it slightly closer to grey), and the same goes for the grass.
  • There wasn't any real reason to use the hook, because the 2 swords were enough to be immortal if you just keep moving and hitting targets
  • More any types could have made progressing and surviving longer more rewarding, but currently, there isn't much reason to try to play more. Upgrades and a boss also could help.

Something tells me that this isn't the first time I have seen these games, but I am not sure. /s

Positives:

  • Cool idea
  • The custom art is amazing and adorable
  • The sound is top-notch
  • I like how the games were shorted from the originals

Things that could be improved:

  • Haven't played the OG Mario, but the jumps and movement here feel very slippery like the whole level was made of ice
  • Some of the platforms broke when jumping into a corner: they would let me through but wouldn't solidify back
  • I wasn't able to jump on the bolted block platforms from below, making me think that their decorations - I was wrong.
  • The 1 minute to complete the other games seemed rough, bc that just means you complete one game until the last level, then complete the second game fully and then finish the first one. But I don't have any good alternatives to suggest, to combat the "focus on one game first and then do the other" strategy.
  • Going through doors was thought in the Right game - maybe make the door wider, like 2 full blocks, without changing the sprite. You can also slide the player into the center of the door.

Just be careful, Nintendo watching. /jk maybe

So much potential!

 Positives:

  • The used assets are good
  • Your game as music
  • The idea is amazing and I'm jealous that I didn't think of it myself

Things that should be improved:

  • I don't think this game is beatable - the enemy base pumps out troops much faster. This could be fixed by:
    • Decreasing the enemies spawning abilities
    • Increasing the about of biomass production
    • Decreasing the price of parts
  • Need more feedback from the things happening: troop health bars, damage indicators, biomass gain messages for when you gain mass from enemies or passively
  • The body parts don't match up sometimes - the legs are detached from the body

Things that could be fixed:

  • Music doesn't loop in a level
  • Some of the body parts render over the castle, some under
  • Enemies sometimes don't have heads - I'm guessing the wolf head is broken for the enemy troop
  • Crocodile feet are faster than wolf feet - should be the opposite based on logic

Other improvements:

  • More options for troops
  • Add the stats to the in-game shop on hover

It would be very cool if some of these things would be added after the game jam because this could be a very cool game that could be built upon with more and more content.

Good game.

Positives:

  • High-quality art - very nice
  • Had audio including a slick beat
  • All that is done, is done well
  • Nice vibe

Things to improve:

  • The voice acting has bad audio quality, but still cool that you put in the effort to spice up the start menu
  • Very simple gameplay and is a bit too easy,  but that's more of a preference thing.
  • When the timer ended nothing happened, just enemies stopped spawning. An end screen showing your score and other stats would have been nice.

Because the gameplay is simple, you clearly have polished everything else to a very high level, so there isn't much to criticize/suggest.

Good game.

Positives:

  • The idea is very creative and well executed.
  • Really like that you added the preview, where the flag is going to be placed - nice touch.
  • The game has sound (unlike mine).
  • Art is good, I like the pencil and paint style.

Things that could be improved:

  • The goal of the game is not clear from in-game, only from the itch.io images. Would be nice if there would be a screen accessible from the menu that would include all the images from the itch.io page.
  • Some of the colors aren't clear if they are supposed to be the same or not, like Austrijas and Latvijas red, some of the blues are slightly different from each other - do does count, same for greens.
  • The ding means I got a combo, the bad ding means I broke a combo, but I didn't understand what it meant for no sound when I clearly matched white with white. Should be more clear.
  • Didn't like that the timer also affects the combo, because it means you have a quarter of the time to place something for it to count. I would suggest S1: +2, S2: +1, S3 and S4: neutral (no bonus but no punishment), but my suggestion is more subjective.

Good game.

Positives:

  • The combat system of good. Combining add and multiplier cards to increase the effectiveness of the base cards and using 2 negative cards to cancel each out is nice.
  • The idea of getting more cards to play with by exploring the level is also neet.
  • I liked that you added music and sound, expesioly when I struggle to add it myself.
  • The windows 7 background is amazing

Areas to improve:  

  • When you or the enemy attacks, it would be nice to see some text of what resulted from the combo. This would make big combos more satisfying and it would speed up the player's understanding of what is going on.
  • The shield and health could have been lower, so the fight wouldn't be drawn out when you aren't pulling any high-value cards, and it would make heavy hits more impactful
  • After finishing the 3rd fight the game closed, so I guess I beat it. If so, would be nice to have more confirmation of my victory.
  • For the platformer sections, it might help to add a jump grace period, where the player can jump even if he isn't touching the ground. This would make the jumps more forgiving and would "feel" more fare.
  • For the deep hole that you can't jump out of, it would be nice to have some spices there to instantly restart the level, so the player doesn't have to think about restarting.
  • Make the player and enemy model less vibrant - they hurt the eyes when on the battle screen. Use less saturated colors (slightly closer to gray).

My brain hurts!

Fun little game, love the pixel art

Love the art and the game play! The only problem is that it is stressful and a little hard with the time given for every order, and my hand is in slight pain from moving the character (holding down the button would be better than making the player constantly slam the button to get to the other side of the field).

I know this is a jam game, but the idea and art are so good that maybe you could revamp it into something even better.  :)

A little short, but nice! Like the art and the idea is fun.

First I must say - love the game, love the art and animations, sound is good. BUT the confusion effect is absolutely annoying and aggravating. Pleas change it - it ruins the game for me.
