This was definitely one of the most polished and creative submissions so far! The feel of a classic pixel art game, thematically fitting sound effects and visuals and a simple yet addicting gameplay loop. Loved it! Nothing bad to say about this, really :D Maybe some background music!

We'd greatly appreciate, if you checked out our submission as well! :)

Good game!

Great entry! Love that the stage is different every time with some pretty intense runs.

The theme is pretty great. The slow descent of the whole map with the worm trying to swallow you is enough anxiety that it makes you feel confined and heightened the need to escape. I notice the map changes every level which is pretty cool and the experience doesn't get stale.

the game itself is very good, but what i liked the most was the theme, something like a mysterious cave, and a giant monster trying to swallow you is very good, advancing and collecting coins and getting stronger, it's really pretty cool, the arts they are very cute, the sounds too, it would be even better if it had a soundtrack

A unique mix of genres and a solid take on the theme! I liked how as you dig up you uncover more enemy varieties and other oddities. Not sure if it was procedurally generated, but there's a good sense of exploration. Good enemy variety, but the damage enemies do seem to vary a bit too greatly, either doing too much or too little damage. Bullets seem to collide with the other side of a wall sometimes, causing no bullet to fire. You can manage to outrun the giant worm quite a lot also. Though I liked that you could upgrade yourself throughout the games through merchants, added a good dynamic and encouraged killing enemies. Overall great work with some minor issues. Great job!

Yea, I was honestly worried that the giant worm was too fast, but if at the same time it seems too easy to outrun it, then I feel like I might add some difficulty scaling thing to make things lighter at the beginning and then harder later on. Damage dealt by any enemy bullet is currently just by an integer of 1 by all bullets, but I think I might add a short invulnerability time or hitstun period after getting hit where other bullets can't hit you, and might make taking damage feel more fair. Thanks for the great feedback, I appreciate it!

Loved it, fits the theme well and it feels pretty unique. I personally don't mind the difficulty but I agree on the health drops with the other fella.  Congrats on the submission! :-)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I implemented the purchasable health drops on first instinct, but I think inline health drops from enemies might feel more rewarding and better integrated into the main loop, so I definitely agree on that!

I really enjoyed this! I didn't get very far but this game is really fun. And really great use of the theme. When I'm caught in one of those little boss rooms the confinement is real!

I am finding the difficulty a little daunting. I find myself afraid to use the bombs because of the damage from that huge blast area. I think the challenge is good but I usually find myself dying right before I see something interesting and new coming ahead. If the enemies occasionally dropped a health or maybe the bomb just pushed you away instead of doing damage, the opening stretch might be a little less intimidating. I could easily see someone dying a few times and quitting before realizing there are more than just the bats and skeletons.

Regardless of my struggle, it does make me want to get better and see more. I think this game is very fun and I think I'll keep this installed for a while.

Developer

Yea, I do agree with the difficulty stuff, and I think it's a classic case of developer syndrome where I misjudge the difficulty because I've been getting too used to my own game. Other people have given me feedback about the difficulty easing in, and definitely the bombs feel more harmful than good, and what I've seen people end up doing is just digging straight forward at the edge of the map simply because avoiding enemies altogether seems to be the best choice. I appreciate your thoughts, and thanks much for the feedback!

Its really fun to play! Like bomberman mixed with Spelunky hahaha. The only thing odd is that the screen size was weird for me, couldn't see the bottom of the screen on my pc. The concept is really cool, I certainly would play a full game.

Developer(+1)

Hi, thanks so much for the feedback! Yea, sorry about the screen size stuff, I'm still new to setting up full projects so I went with a fixed 900x900 resolution that couldn't be adjusted, as I felt like I didn't have the time adding all the settings and stuff to make dynamic resolutions work in time. Appreciate you letting me know!
