I really love the mechanic. There should be a rule where you can only uncover a hidden word once per world. Great game!

Developer

Heh yeah that's come up a few times, had a feeling it might but wanted to see how people found it :P

Thanks for playing!!

Very epic game, really creeative that you make us use random keys to move, music and art is super epic and good, sound effects is also very nice.

I did cheat a bit by randomly spamming letters and then guessed the corrupted word

Overall nice game, I did suck a BIT cuz I was randomly pressing stuff but it's still a great game!

Thanks for playing :D and hehe yeah It did occur to me that people could do that, but I figured I'm okay with it for the most part as the upgrades aren't too game breaking.

Man I can't seem to play this game, the bar loads but stop at the very end and just stay like that :/

Developer

Oh no D: which browser are you on?

Jam HostSubmitted

I'm on Chrome

Hmm not sure then, it doesn't seem to be happening for other people, all I can suggest is maybe try clearing your browser cache or trying a different browser/machine.

I can't find anything about that specific issue online, I guess keep trying and hopefully it works before rating ends.

Sorry dude!

EDIT: ISSUE RESOLVED

Really great, creative idea, and very well executed. This is a good example of combining game mechanics to reinvent a genre. As others have posted, this is a good test to see how good you are at touch typing, and good practice too. My only critique is that the bullets don’t also travel in a grid, so sometimes it seems like I’m safe when I’m really not. I don’t know what the solution to that would be though. Thanks for the experience

Developer

Thank you so much :D and I think I just need to restrict the enemies to 8 directions rather than 32 to solve the bullets staying on grid issue, will look into it!

Super cool concept! I think it's really interesting that how good you are at the game depends on how well you know your keyboard (I'm pretty bad). The upgrade system/way you incorporated the theme was pretty cool as well. Although the player's ability to get upgrades is kinda by chance and on my 3rd run I I spent a few minuets in a cleared room spamming my keyboard trying to get a bunch of upgrades. Overall super cool game and a pretty good entry in general!

Developer

Thank you :D! And yeah I thought I was good at touch typing but making this made me re-think that haha.

Movement mechanic is really really good. If you know your keyboard well, the game can be even a little too easy at times. I got to room 21 and stopped playing because I felt that I've seen everything that game has to offer. Overall a really nice jam entry :)

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! :D That's interesting what you say about easy, I thought I was good at touch typing but even towards the end of playtesting I still couldn't get my head around it sometimes haha. 21 rooms is great, thanks for playing it so thoroughly!

I really like the main concept, it's so creative! So different from a traditional bullet hell game, but somehow still feels like one. It has a fair learning curve, doesn't put you into an impossible situation, although at some point, later in the game, I got bored since the levels felt pretty much the same way...

Overall, great game with a neat twist, had a lot of fun playing! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you that's great to hear! Yeah that's fair regarding the sameyness, there was a set amount of rooms that cycled randomly so it runs out pretty quickly. Thank you for playing!!

Very fun game! I loved the main movement mechanic, and I think that the game was very challenging.  I liked the upgrade system, it really added to the game. If there were anything I'd change, it's the font used for the letters. Sometimes I'd get confused with an i being an L or V being a U, simply because of the font used. But it wasn't too much of an issue, after a couple minutes of playing I got used to it, so it's not an issue whatsoever really. The music and sound effects fitted the game very well, they felt right at home in this game.  I found that killing some of the enemies was very difficult,  shooting out so many bullets, with barely any chance to attack. But thats why I love this game, it's a huge challenge, and you really need to react fast and know where the keys are on the keyboard.

Well done, this is an awesome submission to the jam!

Developer

Thank you so much, that means a lot! Yeah that's completely fair about the font and it was something I figured might happen. I actually changed fonts mid way through dev as my previous one was even harder to read, but yeah sadly I didn't catch the U and V thing specifically till after I'd submitted (those in particular are quite dodgy haha). Thanks!
