Wow! this was a neat game! A hack and slash, you dont see those very often. I loved the graphic and sound design. I didnt get much of the story though. I missed how to see my level and how to get money, maybe those are not implemented yet?
Any way, this was a great and pleasant experience.
The only complaint i would have is that it gets repetitive very soon, before you get the soldier's that aid you, it is just scroll hit hit , scroll hit hit. Maybe do a mission where you need to protect someone on a specific location, or retrieve and item, or a puzzle. Something like that =)
Another fun Diablo-inspired hack-n-slash by ELV! This game gets a lot of things right, such as the straightforward level design, simple story, and action-packed gameplay. The visceral critical hits, complete with voice clips, give them the much-needed impact they deserve. The destructible objects in the levels were also a nice touch that leads into a yet-to-be-implemented crafting system.
There are some odd design choices that were no doubt also results of the Diablo heritage and some issues with the writing that hold the game back from reaching its full potential. For example, this is a melee character with only 2 directions to face, so why make the character turn in the direction of the mouse cursor? It adds an extra step that feels janky. Also, equipping helmets and armors with the right click was easy enough, but trying to get the right sword in the desired hand was always a touchy experience that took some trial-and-error to get right (and sometimes resulted in me accidentally dropping or selling a sword). I think some of the inputs could be consolidated and some interactions could be changed, such as using the same key to attack and interact with characters (make it context-aware), and use attacks to free captive allies from cages instead of pressing the "talk" key. The fewer buttons the player has to remember, the better.
As for the writing, I may not expect much depth from a game like this, but there were so many typos and grammar errors that it bothered me throughout my playthrough. It was never so bad that I couldn't understand what was going on, but present enough to be constantly annoying.
There also seems to be a bug with the talking mechanic: if I leave the castle while a character is talking, I can't attack on the next battlefield.
Overall, this game is a fun experience; it just has a few things to polish before it truly shines.
using the interaction key to attack would work on the game jam, but the mouse is yet just to attack as I couldn't make much mechanisms, but it will be used later to cast magics, teleport, AoE attacks and such things as ranged attacks (like diablo or path of exile)
I will take a look what's happening when speak with an npc, it shouldn't block you to attack, weird bug
Thanks for playing and the feedback!
Fun and addicting game! Mowing down enemies is quite satisfying, and using specials to deal huge AOE damage is great. Also cool to pick up so much gear and get super strong. Controls were a bit overwhelming at first, but after a stage or two they sunk in I think, and I'm very bad at using keyboards for games. A few suggestions in case of future jams:
-Some features, like the materials gathering (wood, mining stuff) seems to have no use at all. I wasted a lot of time slicing trees and rocks, but with no actual point to it. In this case, less is more. Not having the cuttable trees would improve the gameplay.
-Similarly, gear builds up super fast. I kept a lot and was careful about what I threw away because I was anticipating selling it. But there was no shop anywhere. Something as simple as a potion exchange in the fortress would have given me a chance to unload my gear.
-There were suggested levels for the stages, but I didn't see any visible levels. Was this not a feature added yet? If so, those level prompts could have been removed.
-I was expecting a longer game due to the visible stages later on, so I rushed some parts. Taking those out would have provided a better idea of game length.
So basically, if there were a few things removed from the game, it would have been perfect for the jam.
I will try to explain some things, sadly I had to rush the game for the jam
Materials are just farmable yet, sadly, I didn't had time to implement use for them till the last day of the jam
You can trade with NPCs, if you get near there is a balloon with "T" on it, at the game page and help file mention the command, pressing T will open a trade window kind of like Skyrim, every NPC has their own inventory with their own Gold :D
The Stage Level means the level of the monsters inside of it
I agree that I could remove some of the mechanisms that are not implemented yet, but as I want to make a full game out of it, I did let them inside, after the game jam I will probably drop a new version with a lot of stuff, probably will be a demo of the full game by then!
Insanely good game ELV, everything was on point!
Thanks Baz!
I played now all games of this jam and I can tell you, there is no other game in this jam like this. First I had a problem to get the game started, because I didn't know I need to press 'F' to continue with the dialog. It would be great if I could swap items. I died on a creep and the creep died with me, that was a little bit disappointing. But all in all great submission.
thank you, glad you liked it! If you press right click he swap the items!
yeah some ppls got that problem with the interaction key, I should had added a help or key binding but almost didn't made to the jam hahaha!
Fun game with a lot of content. Started off easy enough but after a few levels I had to start thinking more strategically. The combat was really satisfying and I liked the loot system. One of the swords I got had an icon for armour, which confused me a bit. Overall I had really good time playing this, good job!
Thank you for playing and for the feedback, will take a look why that happened!
My pc Keep's deleting the download as high risk =/ Really suck's to, was looking forword to trying this game
Oh that's sad, no idea why the warning, next time I will build it as an installer then, thanks for the feedback!
Got it down, its a really good game, some bugs with some empty items (no picture can use or anything but they take up inv space. Also I am not sure it can be beat in 30min xD But really fun!
will take a look into that, yeah I mainly focused on add a bit content instead of work on more mechanisms to last a bit of time hahaha
thanks for playing and the feedback!
there is a slow motion effect with zoom by chance when killing enemies/bosses, do you know if it was during that? thank you for playing!
