In what way does your game fit the theme?
The possession mechanic leads to a lot of chaos, especially in combination with the game's exploding barrels and land mines.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, I made everything from scratch except for the font, which is Future n0t Found (https://www.dafont.com/future-n0t-found.font ). It is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

Really cool game idea! But oh man... I wished the controls were better... I really liked playing the game and getting to control the enemies was fun and felt a bit godlike. =D But most of the time I found myself struggling with the aiming.

Actually just read your comment from below  If I change the resolution to 1080p it will be better? I played the game in windowed mode.

Developer

Yes, the game's aiming has an incorrect offset when running at resolutions other than 1080p, as the center of the screen is incorrectly calculated at a different position than the true center. The aiming only works correctly when running at 1920x1080. Sorry about this issue.

Cool Concept, it was pretty fun, it just annoying that the aiming sometimes is not accurate.

Developer

Yeah, the aiming is messed up when running the game at resolutions other than 1080p due to a bug. Thanks for the review!

I finished the game. Taking over NPCs is a really interesting concept for a game, I might steal it for one of my future projects. :)

Also I discovered a glitch where it is possible to take control of 2 enemies simultaneously if they were close enough to each other. I had fun ganging on the next enemies by shooting with 2 guns.

This is a really good game! The possession mechanic is cool and I like how there are multiple ways to kill enemies. I love how colorful the game looks as well. The bright colors really helps the game look unique. Overall I really enjoyed playing it and I hope you can get a lot more ratings!

I liked the mechanism. The critics are:

  • player shooting direction wasnt smooth.
  • shooting speed was low.
  • there was no player health bar.
  • Except them, I liked the transition and graphics were cool too. Best of luck.

I'd love you to have a look at mine and rate too with critics. https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-6/rate/1177946

Thanks for the feedback. I do have some explanations for two of your points:

- If you run the game at a resolution other than 1080p, there are bugs in the shooting direction, as stated on the game page. Sorry about this, I did not figure this out until after the submission deadline.

- The player health is indicated by the color of the player's hair and clothes. As the player loses health, the color changes from blue to gray. I probably should have made this more clear, though.

I appreciate the review, and I already left a review on your game page.

Is processing someone and making them trick there friends into walking into a explosive barrel ethically questionable, maybe. What isn't is I had fun, amazed this had gone under the radar for such a clean game.

Unique concept. I loved the idea of taking over someone's body and shooting their own. The only nitpick I have is that if I switch into another person's body they should leave my body alone. Apart from that really interesting and fun concept. Good job

The fact that I'm only the 4th person to rate this game is completely incomprehensible to me, you must promote your game more, its definitely worth playing!

I might even go so far as saying its the  game I've liked most of all the game jam games I have played so far. I find the orthographic perspective and clean, flat-shaded desert and water aesthetic super appealing and love the music and how it changes tempo during possession, really cool. The possession mechanic is really clever and its super satisfying to play the enemies off against each other. You could probably expand this idea in all kinds of interesting ways! I loved the integrated tutorial with the text being actual 3d object that causes reflections and everything, nice touch!

I have just two minor gripes and one suggestion: The enemy pathfinding was a bit 'dumb' sometimes and perfectly happy to let enemies who were pursuing me run straight into the water (which is kinda fun in its own way and if I'm benefitting from it then who am I to complain? :D) and aiming was a bit difficult for me (possibly because I'm on a widescreen monitor, I read that the game is only meant to be played on 1080p, I think this caused a slight offset in the rotation, it was totally manageable to compensate though). My suggestion is that when you cause mayhem with an enemy (eg. blowing up a bunch of barrels that somehow ended up next to the whole enemy squad), the camera shouldn't immediately snap back to the player character but rather let me watch things play out for at least a second or two.

Hope you get more reviews/ratings soon, you made something really special here!

This is a really good game. The way you take down enemies is very cool and I love the way the music changes when you're a different character.
