In what way does your game fit the theme?
Bullets fly everywhere, and all you have is your sword. It will soon become chaotic.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
No, I used some of A* Pathfinder.

Quite a fast passed and chaotic game fits the theme so well! Great work :D

Developer

Thank you! And I'll probably just add an easy mode so beginners don't have a hard time lol.

This is a fun fast paced game. The max I could kill were 10 enemies. Also I really liked the deflecting bullets concept. getting  surrounded by so many bullets from the start really make this a chaotic game, It fits the theme well. Thank you for sharing this awesome game :)

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! Yeah, I realized that it's pretty hard - I'll add an easy mode after the jam lol. I'm glad you liked it!

very chaotic game. fits the topic very well

good job :D

Developer

Thank you! There'll probably be an easy mode after the jam ends lol, otherwise it would be pretty hard to beat.

Submitted

It definitely fits the theme! SO many bullets everywhere around me, the movement is quick and I always appreciate that in games like these, it's pretty challenging, I couldn't live for more than 30 seconds but it was fun nonetheless!

One issue though, it needs audio!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, thanks for playing! I really agree that it needs audio; I actually got an electric guitar recently, so if I manage to learn that relatively fast, I can use that for some audio. And yeah it's too hard lol, I'm making an easy mode that I'll release with WebGL support after the jam. I believe the main problem was that I made the bullets do two extra damage, and couldn't actually tell that it was too much because I was just speed running. Nonetheless, thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you liked the movement too :).

Electric guitar is so cool and would fit so well!

Also, I think a nice addition that would balance the game is lifesteal, whenever you kill someone you get 10HP for example, it would balance out the huge damage you take from all directions and rewards actually killing smartly.

Best of luck in your gamedev adventures man <3

This was really chaotic :) Cool game. keep going 👍

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, probably a good idea for me to make an easy mode lol.

Loved the game its cute and simple!

Tho i would say to add a bit more player feedback

Like some screenshake or small things like that

Developer(+1)

Yeah, definitely, I was thinking of adding in some screenshake and also some more visual cues, although I ran out of time & had to submit. Once the jam is over I'm sure I'll add something like that.

Submitted

sure! I will definitely play this game after u update it! So please do let me know i am gonna follow u

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I'll put out a dev log or something that will show updates :), easy mode will probably be done this week, as long as updates to the level generator. More may come after that.

Had to pull up some John Wick  moves while playing this one!

I had fun! i would like to see a more juice version of this game, with screen shakes and maybe powerups! Thx for making it!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! Yeah, I think the basic mechanics work pretty well, I would definitely want to make an easy mode for beginners as well lol. I think some screen shake when you hit a bullet with your actual blade (rather than the projectile) would put an emphasis on the amount of force you used. I already got some health items, so I'm sure powerups & other items won't be too hard. I'm glad you liked it! I may update it soon after the jam ends. I'll try to rate yours soon!

I played your game and give 5 stars :p

Pls rate back :D

Chaos of destruction

Developer

Thank you! I'll rate your game once I get some sleep!

Nice work! Game fits the theme and cool concept of having different attacks! I feel like the enemies are too tanky for a melee style gameplay with tons of mobs. Could do some balancing and add more visual and audio feedbacks so the players can tell when they have been hit or when they hit an enemy, overall well done for this submission

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you! And I really believe you hit basically everything I need to work on for this. The enemies did feel not exactly right for a melee game, obviously I need to work a little more on the enemies. I'll try to rate your game once I stop being an insomniac and actually sleep.

Straight madness right off the bat. Those little orbs of death could have spawned in a little slower and maybe not so many at a time. Good Job though!

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks! Yeah they are definitely fast, I really believe I need to make an easy/beginner mode just because the game will really make you move. Next time I update it, that will probably be a thing. I'll rate your game soon!

Submitted(+1)

Gameplay is really solid, had a lot of fun. Well done!

Developer

Thanks! I'll try to rate yours once I manage to stop being an insomniac and fall asleep lol.

Nice Work! Really nice game. Definitely works with the theme and I like the different attacks and the sprinting mechanic.

I think adding some sound effects would really benefit this game as a way to give the player's attacks some more weight and also as a way to tell the player that they have been hit by a bullet.

Try giving your player character a white outline (when yo have a dark background like this) to make him stand out more from the background. Its a nice way to draw the player's eye to your player character.

Keep up the good work!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks! I probably should think more about making outlines for the sprites/just making them stand out more, thanks for the advice! I think that didn't really happen because I only developed the tile sprites a couple hours before the jam ended.

I also realized that it may be hard to tell if you were hit, so yeah - some sound effects I think would be good (also I got an electric guitar recently, so if I want to keep working on this - I could use the guitar once I've learned it enough), thanks!

Submitted(+1)

The game is fun! The thing I would add that would make the game feel better is some way of telling that im taking damage or that the enemies are taking damage

Developer

Hey, thank you for the feedback! I did consider adding something that tells the player if you they're being damaged after I submitted - but I can't change anything now, although the game does tell you if you hit an enemy (sort of), when an enemy is hit it spawns blood - I could probably make that more obvious though.

didnt have a menu or something. kinda confused me. also couldnt figure out how to exit so i just terminated it from task manager. couldnt hear any sounds. idk if its my headphones or not. but add some sounds if u havent already. graphics looks good.  also game is way too hard. kinda like bringing a knife to a gun fight.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yeah I realized that the game was slightly hard, what you should try doing is take out the enemies near you and try to make sure that all enemies are only in two corners around you. Not having a menu, sounds, or a proper way to exit besides closing the game from the taskbar was because I sadly used up too much of my time & had to submit. Once the voting is over I will most likely update it with WebGL and an easy mode, as well as some level generation updates. I'll see if I can rate your game after I sleep.
