This is definitely one of the nicest games I played (and not only because of the cats). The character felt good to control, gameplay was interesting and the cutscene was very cute. I especially liked the cat sound effects, made me laugh! I didnt expect to see buff and debuff cards, it was a nice add.

I really wanted to finish the game but around 10 levels it started to feel more repetitive and grindy so I gave up after dying twice (to my own bullets) on lvl16. Maybe could have had less levels and more time used to make levels different from each other. Also upgrades could have been displayed on one go, being sort of stuck after levels to see them one by one was a bit tiring.

Overall I think this game is definitely one of my top games for the jam, you guys really got a lot done in a week!

There's a few things to critique (which is likely due to you giving us so much game to play)

First is that, toward the end of the game it becomes apparent that the best overall strat is to sit in the corner and fire all around the room until you stop hearing the damage sounds from the cats. It does become funny that when you get the ping pong, that your own fire can be your biggest threat but it can be played around pretty easily.

Second is that, because of how easily you can do that toward the end of the game, the maps become absolutely massive with so many cats to kill. It starts to not feel fun having to kill every single cat on the map. You made so many levels, but I think maybe you could've made less levels and spent more time fine tuning/adding new mechanics/enemies. There are some cool things introduced but after you get the plants it becomes pretty samey.

Third is just a slight sfx thing, but the shooting sound and glass sounds for the potions need a bit of low-pass filtering/compression/transient shaping. They're pretty harsh. I like the sfx a lot overall, just needs mixing.

I'm pretty miffed, I got to level 16 or so and then accidentally clicked out of the game. I wanted to see the end boss but I don't think I can play through all those levels again.

Good game, super impressed with the amount of stuff in there.

It was well put together and very polished/clean. The main issue for me was the concept of debuffs being drops in themselves. It kept getting less chaotic at the end of levels for me because of getting so many debuffs frequently. I feel like the cards should each have a debuff and a buff to balance it out.

The art was very pleasing/well done.

There was also a surprising amount of levels for a game jam game. That's a plus.

Great Job!

If you have another person and a controller available to plugin please check out my game!

This game is seriously impressive. I played all the way to the boss but got obliterated. From top to bottom though this thing is crazy. You've got great design sound and ideas here. Super well done. I had a lot of fun with this one. Excellent job!

Really well designed and polished game! Would love to see different enemies come in sooner since they shake things up a ton. The power ups did a good job of doing that as well

This is one of the better games I have played. I really love the graphics and the gameplay. It was lacking a bit of the chaotic element.

Good Job. Your game is fun but less chaotic than expected. However well polished and pleasant to play.

This was a terrific game with a super charming art style. And that opening cutscene is wonderful.

dude, this game was really sweet, really enjoyed it, I tell you, these kind of games get me bored because they get to be the same but the music, the light art style and the dashing mechanism made me stay, didn't understand very much about the cards, some work, some didn't? for example, never got any speed bost, the only one that I saw it working was the double shoot, add a sorth of catch, for xample being able to trade the cards in shop or something.

hope I make a simple cool game like this in the future if I have the idea

Wow, the graphic is super cool. I love your art style but gameplay is kinda slow pace and can't keep my attention for long.

also please check out and rate my game if you interested!

I found it super fast pace, especially once you get past the first couple levels, by the boss fights the game is INSANE

Actually that's kinda true. It just doesn't suit well with my play style but still a good and well-polished game.

This game is utterly fantastic for a jam experience! The random abilities are awesome, music and sounds fit really well, and it controls fantastically! The white outline on interactable objects was a wonderful touch. Amazing job!

I'd appreciate it if you could check out my game, too!

Cool game! Love the escalating chaos!
Btw spamming R gives me buffs, was it intentional or a cheat code perhaps
?

Also ,my previous runs' buffs persist on restarting.
