In what way does your game fit the theme?
The levels get more and more chaotic over time, and what is more chaotic than two friends turning into enemies frantically trying to throw each other off the map.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote the code mostly myself, with a lot of help from Google, of course. Many of the assets were from online creators with the suitable license, they are credited in the game.

Nice art style. I also loved little details like white pixels appearing and disappearing around hearts animation and also moving clouds background. Good job :)

great game and good art

Really nice complete package for a game jam! I liked this twist on a bullet hell wrapped in a platformer. One neat touch that I think really lent itself to the theme is that win condition is a knock out and that the bullet interaction showcases that. Especially in the later stages of singleplayer/high score mode, there is always room for recovery since the bullets only move you rather than end your run like in other bullet hells. This allows for a player to be able to interact with the chaos and feel it as they get tossed around more the longer they last rather than just ending their survival right then and there. (Also managed to clinch past that high score unless you've trumped the 33 you noted before)!

Wow good job, that's the current high score then! My idea for the game was to combine bullet hell, super smash bros and platformers, so you are right on. Thank you for playing and for the nice comment!

Great game. Sound and graphics are good, and the game is fun, especially in multiplayer. I think more obstacles would make the gameplay more interesting and also more chaotic (but of course i can understand that time is the limiting factor)

Overall it's a nice arcade-like game that is definitely fun to play for a while!

Developer

I'm glad you liked it and had a chance to try in multiplayer. Refining the stages was one of the things that got the biggest hit with the limited time, but I'm happy to know that the stages could have even more chaos. Thanks for playing and the feedback!

Hey hey ~

I think you made some good selections for the music and visuals, they paired very nicely with the gameplay. I had a lot of fun trying to beat the high score you posted - I got pretty close but couldn't beat it :).

Was there a way to reset the game once you've lost? I had to quit and reset every time I wanted to try the high score game, I wish I could've pressed "R" or something. I also felt the jumping felt a little fast. Sometimes I would accidentally skyrocket through all the platforms because I held "W" for a bit too long. I think with some refinement it would feel a lot better.

I really wish I had another person to get the full experience, but alas. I think what you made is really impressive and I appreciate that you did include a single player experience. I had a lot of fun trying to beat your high score and think this game was really cool. Well done :)

Developer

Hey Zoolouie, thank you for the detailed comment! Sadly the single player mode was created the night before deadline, and I couldn't get the reset to work so restarting through menu was intended. Finetuning the jumping and movement is definitely on the after jam list. Thank you so much for playing and for leaving feedback!

This is a nice concept. though a 2P mode on the same keyboard seems a bit too stressful.

Submitted(+1)

Pretty fun. I feel like the movement is a bit too hard to control, but otherwise nice job!

Developer

Thank you for playing, refining the movement is definitely on the after jam list, thank you for the feedback!

Very fun! Wish I could play it with a friend. I liked that there is a 1P mode. Maybe if the flying ball were something like comets or random objects, it would be more interesting, but that's for aster the jam. I really liked the audio and the graphics too! Great job!

Please check out my game too! I hope you like it!

The art and audio were pretty great in this game.   The game works well in terms of structure and premise, however falls a little short in some areas.  I only had one person to play with, (me) so the game wasn't too fun, but I can see the potential.  The  jumping and walking felt way too fast.  The projectiles also spawned only in a few areas, creating a lot of safe space.  The delete key is also a very strange button for shoot.  Overall it was a good experience, but needs a bit of tweaking.

Developer

Thank you for the great feedback! The game was meant mainly for 2 players and single player mode came as an afterthought, which was probably not the best idea for a game jam. I'll definitely write down your feedback for later tweaking!

This game is pretty nice! I like the art and the music was nice in it as well! It reminds me of fireboy and watergirl but instead of working together, you attack each other. Overall though, this game was nice!

Great game!  The idea was cool.  If you want to rate my game (would be greatly appreciated), check it out here: https://keahijufe.itch.io/chaos-run

Cool game! only thing is that the delete is an awkward position for a shoot button

Developer

Thank you for playing! I agree, it was the only way to work around bugs when neither shift or control worked right for the second player.

Tähän voi jäädä koukkuun ;) Yksinpelit on hyvä lisä

your graphics looks great!

Its a fun game, especially the 2-player mode. Maybe in the later game the balls could do more knockback.

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you liked it! Charged attack and more knock back are definitely on the list for post-jam updates, thank you for the feedback!
