In what way does your game fit the theme?
In the game, you live as a wolf trying to search the lands and find food. During the game, You go back in time, living through the wolves' past lives.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I made all of the code except for the 2d character controller. Most of the assets except for the wolf, text, and thought bubbles (made by me) were downloaded.

The environment graphics have a nice touch. I had the feeling that the core of the story had potential since I am a big fan of wolves. 😉

But the harmony between the wolf and the environment graphics was not that fulfilled. A pixel art wolf 🐺 would have turned up the emphasis between the player and his avatar. From the level, I would have wished a bit more earth. I had the feeling I was up high in the skies and could fall down the whole time. But the avatar wolf is a more earthbound animal. I congratulate on your successful entry! Keep up the good work!

A very beautiful game. The graphics are what stood out in the game. Your game is very calming with that background music.  As others have said your controls are weird at certain bits because of the collisions. The other thing is you could have added some kind of checkpoint to make it easier. The theme worked well in your game. Well done.

Developer

Thanks for checking the game out. Checkpoints was something I wanted to implement but I didn't get enough time to add it in. It's also something I've never tried but I'll definitely experiment with it in the future. Thanks again.

The art is very nice as well as the music. Though the controls are a bit clumsy it is a good entry. Had a good time playing it

That's a very good idea! Here is my feedback:

  • I really like the art but between the player, the car, the different levels, it does not look consistent.
  • The controls are a bit clunky. I love the fact that the player is faster and faster as the levels go but the jump seem weird.
  • Collisions are strange, when you crouch and with the birds. You could keep the birds collision as it is but then, implement some sort of health bar or little hearts that you lose.
  • I think having to rewind the entire level is a bit punishing (especially given the problems above), that would be nice if you could rewind to a checkpoint (but the levels seem short) or rewind back a few seconds.

Overall, I think it's a nice, relaxing, take on the theme and I love what you did with it! Keep up the good work!

I like the idea you were going for here, unfortunately the controls were pretty loose so I ended up giving up in the section with all the birds. The theming was pretty cool though, I like the idea of working back through time via ancestry

Ya sorry about the controls. I only realize most of my mistakes like the controls and hit boxes till after the jam. Sorry 😐. Thanks for checking out the game though!

The graphics are really cool, i loved the visual polishment in the initial scene! The only thing, it's that the controls need a little bit more of work.

Congrats for the submission! :D

The controls are a bit wonky but the game played nicely

Developer

Lol ya I know. Found out about a lot of the bugs till after the jam

Impressive for a one man team, I could definitely see the player controlling really nicely if it were more refined.

That opening was unbelievably pretty, I also really enjoyed the platforming, something about hooking between the gaps was really fun

Good job

I had a bit of trouble with the controls, but other than that it was good

Developer

Sorry about the controls. I only realized a bunch of of control problems till after the jam. Thanks for playing tho

The beginning was really neat and atmospheric, I liked the background noise. The platforming part was a little tough with no checkpoints, and I was also confused when I started walking on trees lol. But I enjoyed playing, nice game :)

The wolf is secretly Tarzan... don't tell anyone

Neat concept but sad beginning haha.  The art and animations were pretty cool!  I think in the city scene you might have the parallax reversed? (The closer building should move more and the far away buildings should move less~) The platforming sections in dog heaven were cool, there were a few 'blind' jumps where you just take a leap of faith haha, but still fun.  Congrats on successfully submitting a game to the jam and I hope you learned a lot of new gamedev skills.  Please check out my game when you have free time :D
