For first few tries i had no idea whats killing me.
Maybe instead of "Your opponent appears as a red gradient" putting "Don't get caught by the red gradient" would be clearer?
Other than that very short and simple game.
Adding more randomly generated levels would definietly make it more enjoyable :)

I feel like this game would benefit from having randomly generated levels, or at least a few patterns that would change each time you play. Since the level is really shot, it's easy to memorize it. Also the player collider still feels a bit too large. It would be great if the snake would be visible in the background and not only on the side of the screen, as looking there is quite distracting. (hope i didn't sound too harsh, just leaving some ideas for improvement :) )
I found the gradient a bit confusing at first, as it's hard to tell when you're in the gradient and how long you can stay there. Once I realised how I was dying, it was a fun game, great work!!! It's challenging and it fits the theme well. I'd like to see this with some random levels so I could play for longer
I die often even when I clearly don't collide with red rectangle (clearly = one heart-size distance away)
