How does the game fit the theme?
You go around stealing gold from houses while trying to avoid the rat swarm, should you choose to get greedy however, you can go into the swarm to loot you will just take damage (risking it for the biscuit)

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Many of the assets came from Kenney's 1 bit asset pack (https://kenney.nl/assets/1-bit-pack) with a few custom ones that I created myself. All the code was created during the jam.

How many people worked on the game?

I liked the concept. I think sound track and / or sound effects would make a huge difference!

I liked the game, I liked the vibe and aesthetics, it fits the theme well. It was a bit tiring to constantly press WASD. But nevertheless, the game is very exciting and has great potential, I really liked it. It's great that there is a limitation in the form of a rat invasion, and you have to plan a route and choose which houses make sense to rob, and which ones are better to ignore in order to have a chance to leave this location. It would be great to add more minigames when opening locks (maybe in large buildings where there is more than 1 chest), but now it works great, because you need to have time to open the locks before the rats come and maybe other minigames will take much more time

I really enjoyed this game even for how simple it was. I also loved the retro art style you used. It reminded me of the game Baba is you. The only bit of feedback I will give is you should add a way for the player to move when the movements keys are held down, because I was getting carpal tunnel spamming the wasd keys on my keyboard XD. Overall a great game. Awesome job! You should totally check out my game. It's very rage inducing but in a good way. Feedback and a rating would be greatly appreciated :).

I really love the retro-style visuals of this game—they look great. I’ve spent a lot of time playing, endlessly opening treasure chests. The only downside is that the timer feels a little too strict, and I’m not quite sure what the coins are for. Still, the game has a ton of potential, and I’d love to see a more complete version in the future.

Thanks for playing the game and for the feedback! By timer, are you referring to when the rat swarm appears... tbh I'm not sure how much I like the swarm, towards the end of the jam I started getting other ideas for risk mechanics but didn't have enough time to implement them. The coins were mostly just a hi-score mechanic, but I definitely could've made that more clear. If I keep working on the game after the jam, I'll definitely add more uses for them =) also, I love your profile pic

I liked the idea. Having to spam buttons to move fast is a little bit annoying but manageable. Desperately needs more minigames than the lockpicking I think. I think the game should probably also reward risk more than it does right now, as there's not really any reason to stay behind and collect more from one area.

Developer

Hey thanks for playing and for the feedback! I hear you about the movement, I actually just updated that on my local build haha. I agree definitely needs more minigames. In regards to risk, I actually struggled with this and realized it would be a problem towards the end of the jam... I'm not even sure I particularly like the rat swarm concept. In retrospect, I have some new ideas that I think could've made for more fun risk mechanics.

Fun mecanics! pretty challenging, got to play a few game to get in the flow. Good job, had fun!

I really enjoyed the lockpicking mechanic. The game also fits  well with the theme. Good job!

I like this! I had a similar idea, even down to the name, good job xd

I really like this take on the theme, very creative! Would be great to see it expanded with some more abilities or equipment. Great job!

Yo I really liked your game, the only thing id really change is how the damage is handled and the dead end issiue. Damage feels inconsistent and unfair and whats worse in my oppinion is how I ran into a dead end and died lmao 9/10 fun arcade

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it =) I hear you about the damage, I definitely struggled balancing the swarm. If I keep working on it, I'll definitely tweak it to make it more balanced!

I really like the concept, and the lock picking mini game is simple but fun! I found it really difficult to avoid the rats though, so maybe a way to shield yourself or stop the swarm moving for a while would be a fun addition

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I agree! I had a bit of trouble balancing the swarm or thinking of ways to make it more worth staying inside/going back into the swarm
