How does the game fit the theme?
The game constantly points toward the magics having hidden costs... but c'mon, use it, what can go wrong?

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The eyeball, the troll/goblin, and the key. All were taken from websites without copyright

A Masterpiece of a story!

Developer

Thank you, I spent hours toiling away on google docs to perfect it.

I like the roguelike concept, but the execution was kind of lacking. I think the simple visuals could work if they were animated. Also needs some audio and polish of the fighting mechanics. I do like the magic though.

Developer

Thanks, the magic was the most fun part to make (but least fun part to balance... lol). I do now understand that visuals are important.

The game has a nice concept but everything else would need a lot of work tbh

Developer

What aspects do you think it needs a lot of work in, particularly? I'm open to feedback

Animations and sound effect are the biggest improvements it can have but other than that just quality of life improvements like options menu, pause menu or something that will give the game some life like upgrades!

Developer

I had sound effects at the end of my to-do list and didn't get into it in time, but I totally know what you mean. Beside that, I agree with everything else. I didn't plan on any menus to begin with because I felt it'd be too much, but looking back it may be too little.

Despite the lack of art, but the game idea still clear.
Nice work
btw, Hide ability, when I use my screen is blink blink, it's not pleasant :(

Developer

The blinking is intentional because I wanted to make the "hiding from the world" on both sides. Thanks for the comment!

The game idea here is a fun one, the visuals are a little lacking unfotunatly (just use some free assets and credit them if you arent happy making some!), also been able to see whats in the room before entering also takes a way from the expericence of the dungeon imo, but those are both they easily fixed things, having said that, nice project over all, the core mechanics are all there, just a bit of polish is needed in places, also that intro cut scene setting the story a bit was real nice, keep at it :)

Developer

Thank you, I actually did think about adding the mechanic of not being able to see into rooms you haven't entered, but I had only thought of it at the very last second unfortunately. Anyways, thanks for the comment!

I like the idea of the tradeoffs with the powerups and how it ties into the theme, I think it's a really cool idea. If you want, I think if you spent some more time after the jam and polished more on the side of the assets/SFX, you could definitely make the game feel even more intense/satisfying during combat.  Congrats on submitting!

Thank you I may try to add better music or art however idk if I could make it fit with the rest of the game. Your game is great, too
