How does your game fit the theme?
Calm Before the Storm reminds me of that childhood feeling where your parents has left you with chores yet you completely forgot about them, and the feeling of scrambling everywhere trying to get everything done
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I've made everything from scratch except for the Soundtrack and SFX

Nice game, I liked your take on the theme.
I felt like the games were a little too simple, and that it could be abused with mushing all the buttons at once, that should be penalized. Also, maybe telegraphing the next move would help? I confused the TV with the big thingy at the bottom of the map :D, maybe have an arrow pointing to the TV if you're low on energy?
Great take tho, would love to see other games from you!
Thank you for playing! Some sort of telegraphing guide sounds good! Would've actually solve one of my worries where people don't know where to go next. WIll keep your feedback in mind
P.S: the big thingy at the bottom of the map is supposed to be the walkway to the house. Looking back I can see how it can be seen as some sort of weird bug TV
Very interesting approach to the theme. However, the game play itself became very monotonous after a while, different mini-games would have been nice. I find the music very suitable for the style of the game.
Thank you for playing! Different minigames for different tasks sounds like a great idea! WIll keep that in mind
Thank you for your feedback!
It is fun. It would be nice to have a demerit when user press the arrow keys incorrectly
Thank you for playing! Will look into implementing that in the future. Thank you for your review!
This is a really fun interpretation of the theme, and I really like the music! It's a jam and it fits the rush to get chores done well!
Some feedback from me: I didn't know where the TV was the first time I played the game. I eventually found it, but I think it might be a good idea to start the player in front of the TV so that the player has at least seen it. I think you might wanna mix up the floor tiling too, maybe a close to a solid color for a rug in another room to keep it simple while still having some variety. I noticed you made what looks like a dust cloud for when the player moves which is a wonderful piece of polish, however it's really hard to see it since it blends into the floor.
Awesome job! Congrats on submitting, I hope you're a bit less stressed now!
Thank you for playing! Good feedback regarding the TV. Definitely should have put the player there. The floor tiling is a criticism I've received before and will look to improve. This is my first time doing any pixel art so it's a bit all over the place.
Thank you for your review! Will be less stressed in the future!
The game itself is pretty well done. The arrow key match thing is unique, and I personally like it. I feel like the energy doesn't have much of an impact on gameplay, since the majority of time is spent doing the chores. This made it feel like less of a calm before the storm and more of a somewhat storm throughout. Good game though :)
Thank you for playing! Yeah there was supposed to be more tasks throughout the whole house so the main point was the energy management mechanic. But couldn't get all the tasks done in time :)..
Appreciate the feedback!
Liked the idea that you slow down and get tired and can't move fast anymore unless you stand in front of the TV. The mechanic with doing the tasks worked well. Really nice job on the game!
Thank you for playing! Really glad I put that mechanic.
Funny concept! I got stressed about pressing the correct arrow key fast enough, though I didn't notice any penalty in pressing the wrong key. Would've been awesome if each chore had a different minigame. The music choice was fitting to sell the "I gotta get all this done fast" feeling.
Thank you for playing! Yes, the penalty thing is a common criticism that I've been receiving. Will look to fix it in the future!
The floor pattern is too bad, repeated in a bad way. It also makes the wall hard to look at because of the color.
- try to use less color and pattern for the floor.
The stamina system is hardly having any effect on the gameplay.
The mini-game lacks punishment.
Keep going. :>
Noted, Will keep your feedback in mind. Thank you for playing!
What a fun little game and a unique interpretation! Reminds me that I need to do my chores also XD
Really enjoyed the arrow key based skill checks, was a fun addition to the game.
Also the music was well fitting and made the whole event seem super tense!
Well done!
Thanks you so much for playing! Really appreciate the feedback
Interesting implementation of the theme :D, Nostalgic music reminds me old good games, thanks. Good entry, nice job
Thank you for playing! Nostalgia was something I was aiming for so I'm glad it resonated with someone
what a nice short attack of chores
really enjoyed the idea of an energy meter combined with a timer which make it so intense to finish all the chores on time i won at the last 2 seconds
Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed it
Hee-ho. Interesting idea. Nice game
Hee-Ho! Thank you for playing!
Ha, yes, chores, I've heard of those ^_^ It's a clever fit for the theme, and the game is simple, fun and easy to get. The TV mechanics made me laugh, as well as the overly complicated shirt folding ^^
Thank you for your review! It's a really complex shirt
Love this, reminds me of back when I used to program in the ancient Gamemaker: Studio versions! 5-star theme, everyone knows the feeling of scrambling to get their chores done. Game feels and plays good, and as others have said it is a overly-forgiving, making it fairly easy.
Thank you so much for playing! This was indeed made in Gamemaker: Studio (the newer versions though). Will keep this feedback in mind. Thank you for your review!
I won!!! 2nd try ;D
Good game and music is too good, I was just listening to the music the first minute. Maybe for the mini game you can add something like a mis input and the progress bar decreases. That would have made it more tense.
Kudos for a successful game jam!!
Thank you for playing! Noticed the spamming issue but didn't really have time to fix it. Will definitely implement something like that in the future.
Thanks for your review!
I win!
"Storm" being the mom is funny :D I like the chore minigames. Though as far as I can see there's no way to prevent mashing arrow keys.
Good work. Cheers!
Thank you for playing! Might develop some punishment system if they try to mash the arrow keys
