How does your game fit the theme?
It follows the player as they have to dive below the waves of the ocean to take pictures of fish, going deeper to get more photos.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
The code is the only thing I made myself. All the models are from 3rd parties.

Nice game but couldn't see any oxygen indicator so I kept drowning.

Developer

I'll be sure to fix the UI. Thanks for playing

Short and chill game concept. It would be really cool to see this expanded on to a full game, like a pokemon snap where you can move around freely, and add a bunch of other environments to be unlocked as the game progresses and you become more famous as a underwater photographer.  I did found on a second play that you can exploit the seals near the boat and get all the money needed to fully upgrade just from them, adding a "hey, you already have this photo"  to avoid that would incentivize exploration of the full stage for new stuff to photograph. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback. Yes, stopping the player from getting the same score from the same photo every time would be something that needs fixing. Pokémon Snap fixes that issue with the player being on a track, they can't repeat photos because they go past them after some time. I might test out a level on a track for fun and see if it adds to the game. I will also implement a limit to the same photos being taken, which will probably require a level reload if the player wants to take good photos again.

If I expand on the movement, do you think 3D movement would work better?

Nice game with a cool concept! I think if the diver speed was a little faster the game would feel better to play. Good job!

Developer

Thanks, klouk!

Do you mean the player's speed at the beginning of the game? When you get upgrades later on for speed, the player does get quite fast but if you mean at the beginning, that's something I can consider changing.

I kept pressing the spacebar to go into camera mode but nothing changed. Cool concept.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I did have a counter for the number of shots that you could take before needing to head back to the ship. It probably got cut off when I was adjusting the UI for the web build. I will consider having more than just UI elements to give the player feedback, possibly a shot sound that plays.

Cool environment. Not sure what kinda underwear we are sportin' here but who am I to judge :D nice atmosphere.

Developer(+1)

Thank you. I like to think the weather is warm enough for them to swim in but maybe they can get a wetsuit in a future update.

Honestly, I found it funny!! Added to the fun points :'D

Fun idea and fits the theme. It's a bit rough around the edges, but good work putting it all together in a week. If you plan on expanding this I think it would be cool if the pictures could be viewed afterwards.

Developer

Yes, that's a great idea. I know that Eliane1998 who posted the game, "Flash the Fish" had the same concept in their game. Here's a link to it if haven't seen it already. https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-10/rate/2230411

Being able to see what pictures you take could help slow down the game a bit because I know it is kind of quick at the moment. Also, the way they score a photo is interesting. I would like to know how they did it because it could be interesting to implement.

Thanks for the feedback by the way.

The game has good music and atmosphere. The graphics are not very good and the character movements

Very atmospheric game. I kept dying every time and i got broke so fast. xD (-2000 money at a time) But among the cozier games, this was one of my favourites. Realy cool execution. Well done.

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad to hear it.

Cool idea, really like the vibes of diving and tacking pictures!

For some reason though, the textures were a little glitchy on my web browser, and I think it would be nice to have an indicator for the oxygen level

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I must of got the UI sizing really wrong if the oxygen indicator didn't show up. I'll be sure to fix that one after the jam.

Thank you for giving it a go.

Really like the idea of diving and taking pictures! It is pretty hard though without any indication of the oxygen but I still managed to dive around for a bit. Really like the vibes with the huge rocks aswell!

Developer (1 edit)

There is definitely suppose to be an oxygen meter. I must of go some of the settings wrong either when posting or during development.

I will fix that one once the jam is over.

And thanks for playing, I really appreciate it.
