It's a pretty simple game, the visuals lead to an interesting aesthetic if a bit cliche. The fact that the enemies were laid out in the description was a bit weird and removed some of the surprise on most of them though. A bit of clearer feedback:
- The controls felt relatively snappy and good so not much I can suggest improvement on there.
- Pickups/upgrades were interesting, especially comboing them and
specifically the blue or "gun" upgrade. Though it did get repetitive so specifically for the gun upgrade I would say adding more gun variations could be interesting. Plus there's not much indication on how long they last or how much longer you have them. On the rest of them though- The HP pickup feels a little too powerful considering how long it takes the player to die normally adding the ability to heal on top of that removes a lot of the challenge and danger for the player.
- The Speed pickup didn't seem to impact gameplay all too much, though in situations where I needed a bit more it was helpful. It was just hard to see feedback on how fast I was going since there was no visual for it and the environment didn't have any details for me to compare my speed with.
- No boundaries on the map lead to a lot of weirdness trying to find where pickups were at, as well as bullets seemingly going forever. Since there was nothing for them to collide with and if they have a despawn timer it was overly long and I didn't personally see any of them despawn from it.
- For me personally the bloom around the objects feels a bit much, especially in comparison to how empty the environment is. No obstacles no detail etc. which lead to a lot of very bright very neon clumps of enemies which could end up being a little hard to look at.
Overall though even as a straight up top down shooter it's an interesting game the one thing I'd say is more enemy variety and some sort of boundary would be the main additions I'd recommend. So it doesn't end up with you going forever just to avoid the bullets from the enemies.
