How does your game represent Mode?
This game represents MODE by randomly switching which mode the player is in while traveling! The player must adapt to the different global effects that modes apply and use them to their advantage (if they can....) to retrieve their sandwich!

Cool game, really steep difficulty curve. Very engaging gameplay mechanic. good solid art and good times all around. Didnt finish it though. :3

Really cool concept where your steps activate different abilities and modes, I was really surprised and intrigued from the mechanics.  It's a very clever idea, and I enjoyed getting all the way through it. A little brutal with that final checkpoint, but overall the game is certainly memorable. The presentation was also really charming and I always enjoy an absurd intro cinematic.

Thanks for playing!

Love these kinds of dungeon crawler roguelike games, but feel the pace is bottlenecked by the attack on every turn. Maybe there could be a toggleable mode... Liked the use of "mode" in the game, kept me on my toes!

That was fun!  The graphics were cute too

Really love the concept and title !

Great implementation of the theme and really interesting concept! The art style takes me back to the original Pokemon days. Sometimes the game felt a bit unresponsive though when it was resolving projectiles and enemy movements. I like that the game went really fast into gameplay after a little backstory. Well done!

Really great art and gameplay. I think the mode switching really lent itself to strategies. I really enjoyed the game, it came out great!

Much appreciated :D

Really gorgeous aesthetic and cute little story to go with it. Reminded me of games like Fatal Labyrinth from way back when. The mode switches were interesting too, definitely gave a fun way to strategize each movement/turn

Great lil dungeon crawler game with stardew vibes. The intro sequence was really funny and the game was solid! Loved exploring deeper and deeper in to the dungeon. You have a really great variety of environments and enemies, especially for a 2 week game jam! Well done!

Thanks so much!

This is a fun game, and the presentation is really nice! I agree with other commenters that it is kind of like Mystery Dungeon which is great. I think a little more personality in the enemy behavior would make the combat more engaging, but I do really like the addition of the burst attack partway through.

Nice work!

Mystery Dungeon is one of my favorite game series, and this game seems to recreate the feeling of those games. I'm incredibly impressed by how you capture the essence of those games while also providing your own twist to the formula. I really like the system of rotating between different attacks and having random effects, it makes the player create strategies on the fly while also adapting to different situations, it's a smart and creative usage of the theme. While I love the concept and the presentation, however I have one main issue with the game and is how slow the game feels. Moving through the levels does not feel as satisfying and the combat can feel quite unsatisfying. I truly loved taking out enemies strategically, but the slow feeling made the experience slightly worse. However, do not get discourage, this idea is really good and I truly love your twist on the formula, so I'd still say this game is great and one of my favorite usages of the theme in the jam. Hope you keep working on this idea and make a more polished version, I'd definitely check it out!

Thank you! This is the best sort of reception I could have hoped for.

Very nice game. Took me a bit to figure it out, but then I started playing more carefully I was able to progress. Great art and music. Big fan of the UI. Would love to see the game expanded on after the jam with more levels and enemies. Really like the UI too.

Pretty fun, played through the whole thing with only one death. Echoing what basically everyone else said I think the delay between turns should be ditched. Really solid game. Great music too.

Wonderfully done! I love the atmosphere and enemy design. I also like the unique idea of the games mechanics and the twist it takes on classics like pokemon mystery dungeon. Great work!

I loved the overall presentation - the art and the sprites. I also liked the strategic aspect of baiting enemies to the right spot for the next few turns. One thing I felt was that the controls felt sluggish in the later levels, possibly due to having multiple attacks per turn. Other than that, I had fun playing this game (managed to beat it!).

Thanks :D
