This is one of the best games I've played so far in this jam. I really like the unique interpretation of the theme, and while short it was still well-made and scary. This seems strange to say but I also liked the way the UI appeared in the world instead of just being an overlay on the screen. Overall one of my favorite submissions. Great job!

I would love it if you checked out my game as well :)

Thank you for the very kind words and feedback! :D

I really like the aesthetic of this game. Has a real nice retro-horror feel.

Presentation-wise and atmospherically, this is neat. The gimmick with the TV was nice too. :)

Good game, creepy.

It's a pity that it's short, I didn't have enough, but it's very good.

Thank you for playing our game, it's great to hear that you enjoyed it! :D

After releasing our game we have been met with an overwhelming amount of positive feedback. Many people, including you, told us they would love to see more of this. So, a huge thank you to every single one of you!

Just so that we're all on the same page on this: our game is built around a real nightmare... and that is kind of funny, the more we think about it. Let's just hope nobody else experiences an actual, real nightmare similar to this! :D

I'm using the same monster in my game, ironically enough its a it it a dream or real kinda game too, Lol

Developer(+3)

That's a nice and funny coincidence! :D

Don't worry about it being similar to our project or anybody else's project. Every game is unique in their own ways and we're sure you'll do just fine. We wish you all the best in your own project and don't forget to have fun! :D

Hello there and thank you for your comment! :D

We are more than happy to share you some tips, as we always want to encourage & help all types of developers to reach their goals. We enjoy crafting our games as a hobby in our free time and that's why we don't pay any money to promote our games. Instead, we count on our wonderful community to play our games and share their experiences themselves.

Here's a comment we posted on your page, that goes into more detail. Thank you once more and have a great day! :D

Excellent game guys? I noticed that it was built in Godot, was it Godot 3 or 4? If 4, how did you get the shaders to run well in browser? I can't seem to find a tutorial anywhere. Thanks in advance!

Developer(+2)

Thank you for playing and we're glad you enjoyed it! :D

We build all of our projects in Godot 3. HTML5 exports in Godot 3 are more compatible with all types of browsers in general, especially when using the GLES2 rendering backend (which only requires WebGL 1.0). As for the performance, the textures are already relatively low resolution because of the style of our game, so there wasn't any optimisation needed.

However, as you may already know, shadows are the biggest enemy of performance. This meant before exporting the web version, we introduced an option to turn off all shadows and also lowered the default shadow atlas resolution. We also use shadow dummies for some detailed objects to give them a lower resolution shadow, which is quite funny but visually almost unnoticeable. :D

Other than that we removed any visual effects we had in the desktop version like depth of field and changed some WorldEnvironment properties like Tonemap Mode and Tonemap Exposure to match the coloring of the desktop version and the web version. If you have any other questions feel free to ask us. Have a good one! :D

Dang, you'd think Godot 4 would have something like that already, but oh well. Thank you so much for your insight!

Finally got around to playing this. The theme is a bit of a stretch, but finding something unique with this theme is tough so I can appreciate the attempt at originality, even if it feels like a bit of a miss. We struggled with it and ended up being identical to like 20 other games. lol Aside from that it's really well made.

Controls are tight, got a robust options menu. The music and sound design is phenomenal, honestly. Really nailed the atmosphere. The graphics are perfectly niche. Switching to the high fidelity spooky boi is a nice touch as well. Appreciate it not being loud scream jump scare and just an intense close up of a creepy boy. Could've taken the easy way out with that but you didn't. Kudos! It's also a different kind of fun from most of the games in the jam, which I appreciate. Suspense can be fun or boring and I think for 7 days you got pretty close to "just right". But also for all the set up it feels too short. I only found 2 endings.

I feel if you had spent the extra 7 days and missed out on one of the 4 jams you submitted too (the 7day jam) and spent that time on tackling the "mode" aspect of the BIGMODE jam and to make it more clear you could've better fleshed out the concept game play wise. Clearly you guys are talented and capable, with double the time this would be a winner no question. But ending it where it ends made it feel unfinished. Although it is also incredibly polished for 7 days so great job on that end.

Thank you so much for the very kind words and a very well written feedback! We really do appreciate you enjoying what we love doing! :D

You are indeed correct. Spending more time on this project would improve it a lot but you know what it is, life can be busy sometimes and you only get so much time for hobbies!

As for your own game, we thought it was quite original and fun to play! No matter what you personally think about it, you should be proud of what you made because us and many other people really liked it! :D
