Track description | Creative process
I used only instrument that Coral Riff ,the boss would use (bass, piano, drums & brass).
Integrated a heartbeat like drums in reference to the game main plot (main player got her heart stolen and now it beat in rythm to the music).
Tried to make it sound like underwater and wave with the mastering (reverb / delay / velocity).

The heartbeat is a really cool idea! The bass is good, and love the acoustic piano sound - very atmospheric. Compared to the original, it's a little more lowkey than I'd expect for a boss fight, but nice work overall!

Would also have liked it to be a little more intense, will work on it.
Thanks for your feedbacks!

The bass line is really good. I like how the melody is develop and how you integrate the rest of the instruments The dark parts feel like  a boss song. Good job!

Thanks

The bass riff is very good, but I think it lacks some of the other main components of the original: a good loud kick, synths and more rhytmic parts. But your limitations are a good choice, and you made something original that sounds very nice.

Developer (1 edit)

I'm not sure about the loud kick but I agree on the fact that i didn't use much instrument, just discovered by watching ppl jam cover that I could have used some cello too.
I will try to do a more rythmic part around 0:57 while making instrument come together.
Thanks for your feedbacks!

The instrument limitations you imposed on yourself were an interesting consideration. Nice funky bass riffs.

I like the very strong feel of the heartbeat in this, it gives it a good tension and a very strong beat to work with.

The baseline sounds funky which I really like!

I would have liked to hear more development after the ~0:57 second part with the piano, I think you had a really strong core and buildup that could have been resolved really strongly with all the instruments coming together (which would fit in the theme of the fight well).

Overall solid work, it would be nice to hear an expansion of this post-jam!

Developer

Will try to do this yeah, would have loved to be able to make all the instrument fit together in a strong part, but got stuck with my baseline. I will maybe try to do another baseline to make it fit.
Thanks for your feedbacks!

Your submission has a different character than others I've listened before. I really liked the melodic lines you created, I think they are a solid core for the entire track.

Good job!!!

Nice take, pretty unique bass line with a very melodic element as it is the main character and the whole instrumentations are just there to support it, like the boss and the minions (instruments).

Developer

Thanks, I made the bass line kinda first (as I thought the boss main identity instrument should be at the center) with the brass so I was sure they would fit together nicely and give me this boss fight tension. But then i tried to add some more things to my bass melody and... Dang! I just couldn't make another melody fit with the bass line (but was to proud of it to change it).
If I have a regret it's that the bass line was maybe a bit too complex and made the transitions between instrument not as smooth as I would have liked them to be.
