the game has two phases: first you shoot bugs and every shot depletes one bullet in the second phase you use WASD to control VI to dodge bugs in first fight, you get 100 money for every bug shot, with 1 000 you can buy a bomb by clicking it at right corner
Really good start! I can see the vision and it was fun to play. Add some audio and it would elevate it alot. Also the cutscene at the beginning was bugged and I had to reset the game.
OK this looks intersting, but when she jump and I go to the edge it says "jump after?" and then basically just locked up. No button does anything, no where I click does anything, had to ctrl-alt-delete kill it.
which is a shame because I think this game looks pretty cool and wanted to play it.
I don't really know what to think about the parts that aren't the shooting game - I have no idea where you're going with it. I thought the little text boxes before the ghost battles were leading to something, but they just stopped after the first two fights.
For the shooting game, the dodging feels kinda sluggish. Slowly failing to move out of the way of a slow enemies feels worse than quickly failing to move out of the way of a quick enemy.. Also more fun would be having more health but harder-to-dodge attacks. But I don't know if it's supposed to be a fun game or if it's aiming for something else.
I was disappointed that I couldn’t go backwards right at the start. This is one of the first things I try in any game, hoping that some secret or little goodie will be back there.
The letterbox effect and the white noise don’t reach the bottom of my 16:10 display. There’s a 120 pixel band at the bottom that doesn’t get captured by these effects.
After choosing “yes” to “jump after?”, I get stuck after the white noise effect. Happened the same way twice and then I gave up trying any more. I see the crates and text box in your published screenshot, but the text box is entirely empty except for the “VI”. My console gives this report:
Error opening file: res://texts/sd_world_chat.json
SCRIPT ERROR: Invalid get index 'plot_0' (on base: 'Nil').
at: get_character_code_before_chat (res://chat.gdc:43)
Error opening file: res://texts/sd_world_chat.json
then the spacebar, which I’m assuming is the key to advance the dialogue, gives this:
SCRIPT ERROR: Invalid get index 'plot_0' (on base: 'Nil').
at: Wait.read_frame (res://chat.gdc:113)
state is 0
Thanks for playing the linux version and reporting the bug. The export setting was missing the .json containing the dialogs. It is now fixed and I uploaded fixed version.
it was a 10/10 until i got stuck infinitely in the starting cutscene of watching the thing jump off road and then stuck on the ladder, but please put some shorts or something on this girl, i don't wanna see her nasty snatch
also just stick a microphone outside when its windy and put the recording in the game for instant 10/10 atmosphere
The game froze when I was facing the elevator ladder, after spamming space a bit because I didn't understand how to climb it. I could still access the menu but I couldn't move. I had to quit the game and restart but the same thing happened the second time.
I thought the idea was nice, I like the undertale-like fights and the atmosphere would probably be cool with some background music and sounds. But it was also a bit buggy. Here's some extra things I found
- after the girl gets submerged in the water, I can still access her old dialogue by pressing space in the same spot
- clicking the bomb really fast and clearing the fight while a dodge sequence was coming up bugged the game, and I had game over text remaining stuck for the next battle
- it's a bit unimmersive that the fights for the two ghosts come in the same order regardless of which ghost you visit first. Kinda ruins the illusion that the fights are a "real" thing that exists in the game world and makes it feel more like a random minigame that pops up.
- it feels like a bit of a slog to go through because of things like these: slow movement, no sprint button, space doesn't skip the typewriter animation, space doesn't autoselect the UI buttons, etc
Thank you for playing and for your comment. I have not been able to reproduce the ladder bug... after pressing SPACE the character should latch on to the ladder and then you use W to go up (and A to go down) Bugs noted and yeah the movement is a bit slow I agree.
I tried it a third time and this time I didn't run into the bug, and I was able to complete the game. The only thing I think I was doing differently is spamming spacebar a lot of times. I don't have any complaints about the part after that, it was nice.
I have some complaints about the pace though, walking is really slow and text could be faster too. The various prompts for like following the lady and picking up objects seems unnecessary, you could just press space and interact like with doors, for those sequential switches a sound cue would be enough. The battle ending screen and the "thank you for playing" screen are a little too bright. The minigames are okay, but they could be snappier too, with a faster transition between the dodging and shooting parts.
So, Vi is a condom huh? Is the name a spoof on AI or virtual?
Cheeky hanged waifu, now this is a concept I can get behind.
Needs music, and perhaps more sfx.
Doors should open resident evil-style, tv should be interactable and show something interesting.
Girl gets stuck in elevator... immediately drowns and is harassed by tentacles... Japan confirmed.
You can trigger girls initial conversation at the door again, even after tentacles have popped up.
Combat is interesting, I like the combination of the two gameplay systems. Undertale dodge and some rail-shooting. I initially thought the shooting section was timed and not related to the bullet count, could be a way to ramp up difficulty later. Could also perhaps combine the two, save bullets to shoot things away to be able to dodge less. Just some thoughts.
Uploaded the waifu to a soul device huh? Seems practical.
Her name is TV. This is good.
Went through the door and everything turned black, is it a bug or is that ending for now?
Pretty much loved this, needs some work, text needs editing, that is true for my own stuff as well. Keep trucking.
Yeah I admit the movement can feel a tad slow, it also lacks settings for mouse sensitivity. The menu is mostly just candy at this point sadly. It doesn't have any meaningful features. It must be confusing because it is still highlighted at a dialog.
If you still want to go at it, you can get past that part by pressing the lift call button with SPACE.
Please add menu options. Is the game meant to be 99% soundless? The inventory menu sucks. Is the girl supposed to be nopan? When dodging the maggots it should tell you to dodge, since it is unclear you're in control. I got hardlocked when interacting with the ladder.
This has good potential as a schizo walking sim. It really needs sound/music, and the girl would benefit from VA (AI or otherwise). The only thing that's unclear is whether this is meant to be a fetish game, since it feels like one.
Thank you for playing. Yes, the game is missing music sadly. Also it could use a tutorial about dodging no doubt.
I haven't encountered the hard lock (the game should end in white screen saying thank you). The ladder might be a bit obscure but press SPACE near it, wait the character to latch on in it and you're able to climb it. There is a short animation to latch on and it can be quite subtle so pressing SPACE multiple times can make it attach and detach.
Can't comment about the fetish side other than it's not my fetish;I just wanted to make something fun.

I have no idea how the bug shooting game works.
the game has two phases: first you shoot bugs and every shot depletes one bullet
in the second phase you use WASD to control VI to dodge bugs

thanks for posting, I finally figured out the problem and it's now fixed
everything worked, though i don't really know how to dodge the bugs and i died there every time.
use W, A, S, D to dodge
damn, since i shot the bugs with the mouse i thought that i had to use it as well to dodge lol
understandable, there really is no tutorial
Well that was weird.

PS what's up with the sock in the trash can?
Thank you for playing. Yeah I admit the story is subtle , but the idea is simply to follow that girl you jumped after at the beginning.
The pink sock… it’s up for your imagination .
Got stuck on the intro cutscene when the game asks me to jump after :(
Did you try jumping after her? :/
yeah, the game froze and none of the keys would do anything
finally figured out what was wrong
it should work now if you wanna give it another go

Fun lil' game.

Is there more content coming?
Yeah making it overall snappier and faster could make it more fun.
(Unfortunately) this game is finished, learned a lot doing it though
Can relate. Good luck on your next project then.
Writing down my thoughts as I play:

This game is art.
I don't get art
I like the theme of your game, but the girl should be more muscular.
Besides the pause menu (And a quit button in general), the camera and player's movement both feel slow/heavy.
There's a lot that feels unfinished, I didn't get past the part of the girl slamming the door in the dark blue building.
Yeah I admit the movement can feel a tad slow, it also lacks settings for mouse sensitivity.

You don't need a tutorial. A simple "Dodge!" when it pops up is enough.
